What is the answer to skirts clinging to tights?

I wore a nice viscose jersey dress today, or it was nice except for the horrible way it clings to my tights. If I wear a slip, the slip clings to my tights and the skirt to the slip.

Some people seem to manage but I have this issue with all skirts and dresses, except a suit type skirt with a lining. What's the solution?

Hairspray.

Spray your tights with it, let it dry, put dress on. It gets rid of the static.

And use fabric conditioner in your washing

jensner · 21/03/2017 19:15

Rub some body lotion onto your tights. Works for me.

Mysterycat23 · 21/03/2017 19:15

Try a slip of a different fabric

RoganJosh · 21/03/2017 19:16

Are you wearing kind of shiny tights? They help.

Rub a dryer sheet over the inside of your skirt before you put it on.

EnidButton · 21/03/2017 19:21

Body lotion sounds like it'd smell nicer than hairspray.

PuppyMonkey · 21/03/2017 19:26

I followed the near mythological hairspray advice given on here - bloody useless, don't bother.

Emphasise · 21/03/2017 19:34

Thanks Puppy, I thought it was just me. I have tried that and found the same as you.

I used to do the hairspray trick when I had to wear a 'lovely' polyester uniform many years ago and it worked a charm. But fair enough.

StaticGuard. There's another thread running, but if you know anyone who goes to the US, get them to buy you a can. Magic stuff, the European versions are not as good. I have bought all the versions and they don't work as well.

GenerationEx · 21/03/2017 19:51

Anti static spray. It's great. Spray it on the inside of the skirt or dress and it will never stick. Designed to solve this very problem.

OCSockOrphanage · 21/03/2017 19:52

Exactly.

Emphasise · 21/03/2017 19:55

I didn't know such a thing exists. Looks like they have it on Amazon. Not cheap but I'm prepared to try anything. Does one application last until the skirt is washed?

Body lotion or liquid soap - rubbed on the tights when on your legs prevents static

MeeWhoo · 21/03/2017 19:57

Granny style undergarments! I have one similar to these but a bit shorter:

You can get completely plain ones like those (mine is black) so if for some reason they go on show they look like they are part of the dress/skirt anyway.

DorotheaBeale · 21/03/2017 19:58

Fabric conditioner used to work for me back when I wore skirts and tights.

MeeWhoo · 21/03/2017 19:59

I meant to say I got it for a jersey dress that clinged not because of static, but because I like thick opaque tights in the winter and they cling to knitted materials but nor because of static.

HateThinkingUpNames · 21/03/2017 22:01

Moisturiser of some sort on tights is key. Just make sure it's not too thick or it leaves stripes!

Ride · 22/03/2017 09:15

I have tried everything! Any skirt, any material with any variation of tights and materials. Sprays, moisturiser, slips! I now resign myself to only wearing skirts in summer.

BounceBounceSplishSplash · 22/03/2017 09:22

This always work for me though it's OOS at the moment. Gives me a better silhouette in dresses too. I've 2 and couldn't be without them now when wearing a dress with tights. No static cling at all.
