Black work trousers

I'm looking for a pair of smartish black work trousers. I'm an apple shape, with hips and thighs a good size smaller than my waist, and usually find trousers too saggy round the bum and thighs if they fit around the middle.
I'm happy for there to be some elastane/lycra content, but don't like anything too polyester-y. Slim leg or palazzo work on me, but wide trousers have to be made of quite substantial material to hang right on me. Has anyone tried or seen anything that might work?
Budget up to about £50 - don't want to spend too much as am trying to lose weight, but need something fit to be seen in until that happens!

Marks and Spencers do a good range of jeggings. They are high quality - I have a couple of pairs that have survived the spin cycle countless times. They shape to fit you and certainly come in a range that would suit work purposes. I am forever wearing mine.

I got some nice black trousers in Topshop. I'm a different shape to you I think but it might be worth a look. And only £22, so good value.

H&M had some great smart black but with a bit of stretch work trousers with buttons at side. I'll see if I can find a link to them. Very comfy and perfect for work.

Op the ones I got in H&M don't appear to be on their website. But in store it's often better.

Try &other stories, COS and massimo dutti too, I would say try Zara but their quality re stitching on hems isn't great comes undone easily.

Also and they do do smarter options gap or banana republic are good.

Try any of the supermarkets that sell clothes. Standard black trousers aren't too tricky to get, and if you are hoping to be a different size soon, you'll surely not want to spend too much.

Am hoping someone who is a similar shape to me might be able to recommend something specific that they have already tried. It's so hard trying to find trousers that fit properly.
BackforGood, unfortunately most "standard black trousers" don't fit properly, am very much hoping to narrow it down a bit.

Next black skinny trousers are a brilliant fit. I find the waist fairly generous and the legs very slim. Roughly 25quid too. I've just bought some with a zip on the side of the waist.

Jigsaw are cut for apples but ££, oasis too and less £
Boden skinny hampshires I think are good, have a seam down the front.
Boden bistro crops were good if they still do them but no belt loops which is annoying.
Uniqlo smart trews have an elasticated back - sounds hideous but honestly they are lovely.
M&S treggings again sound hideous but great for apples

Avoid Hobbs, LK Bennett and Great Plains as they are not for apples.

I'm a similar shape - my waist is disproportionately large and hips and thighs a size smaller. British high street mainstay brands like m&s, next and hobbs tend to be cut for pairs. I've had success with shops with a slightly younger target group like oasis, warehouse and topshop - which follow a more apple shaped size block. Spanish/scandi brands like zara and h&m appear to be cut slimmer on the thighs, but I've found the waists tend to run a bit tight. Also if you do spot a pair of trousers you like, that runs a bit big on the hips, you could get them taken in by a good seamstress. It's best to choose a pair without pockets to do this.

I found some in matalan good stretch slim near the ankles and about £15 - but the better Ines have the elastine - so you need to check on the rails

I'm quite appley. I recently got these . They are fractionally too short, but fit well round the waist and hips.
