I'm thinking of starting to dye my hair at home to cut down on my outgoings. I would be dying my hair an all over dark brown, can anyone recommend any colour to use? Need to be able to cover greys! X

I use L'Oréal... they are all good.., if you want one with little less chemicals than holland and Barrett do good ones... I used those during both my pregnancies... now back to L'Oréal

I use Schwartzkopf Chocolate Brown as they are long lasting, very good on grey coverage and fairly cheap on Amazon multi-buy. The main plus point over other brands in the lack of gloopy effect...I find L'Oreal to be very messy and it it drips everywhere while waiting to process. I recommend you buy a black bath robe for hair dye procedures as the mixture has a habit of getting over basins, skin, tiles, shower curtains...

John Frieder foam dyes are also ok but they don't last very long on my hair.
