Sick of spending a fortune on ill fitting bras so appealing for help on getting the right size.
My under bust measurement is 34 and my full bust leaning over measurement is 40.
What size would you suggest?

Go and get measured? It is free, and they can find styles that fit and suit you best.

bec3105 · 18/03/2017 12:11

I've been measured before but they always get it wrong hence me asking here for help

Starting size of 34E Smile

lindyloo57 · 18/03/2017 20:32

i used to be a bra fitter for seventeen years, your measurements roughly as all make of bras fit differently, try 38 B or C or 36 C or D make sure your tape is really tight under the bust,
we were told to add 4 inches to the under bust size but it did not work on all everyone. for example my size was 30" under the bust 37" fullest, my size 34D. sometimes DD.

hollinhurst84 · 18/03/2017 20:52

Add 4 isn't used now

Lweji · 18/03/2017 20:54

Never add 4 inches. Unless you want a bad bra fit.

AwwOlgaICannot · 18/03/2017 20:56

Lindy, do you know where the adding on 4'' came from? I can't think why this ever seemed like a good idea. Surely the band size is the band size is the band size Confused

PacificDogwod · 18/03/2017 20:57

34E or F depending on style.

Stop with the adding 4 in already!

PacificDogwod · 18/03/2017 20:59

Go to Bravissimo or Rigby and Peller if you possibly can.

Or read the BetterBraCampaign advice

A few years ago I walked in to Bravissimo a 36D and walked out a 32G Grin. Life. Changed.

Gardenbirdy · 18/03/2017 21:00

As well as getting fitted, try different styles to see what suits you. I love how balcony bras look on the hanger but they always feel and fit just wrong, somehow, on me.

notnowbernadette · 18/03/2017 21:02

I can highly recommend Bravissimo if you want fitting properly.

lindyloo57 · 18/03/2017 21:29

i don't know where the 4" came from, the shop i worked at had traded for over 60 years, a small family business, i did say it did not work on everyone, sometimes the larger the lady the less you added on, the 4" was added to the under measurement, my size under the bust measure is 30" i wear 34 my fullest is 37" i wear 34D.

hollinhurst84 · 18/03/2017 21:31

You're in the wrong size then. Try a 30 band

PacificDogwod · 18/03/2017 21:32

lindy, just for fun go and try on a 30D or even E.
Gawn, humour me Grin

AwwOlgaICannot · 18/03/2017 21:32

Sorry lindy I didn't mean to sound like a dick there, it was more of a general wtf, why! Flowers

lindyloo57 · 18/03/2017 21:45

Awwolgalcannot, if i tried to ware the band size which on me is 30" there is no way i could do it up. try it yourself let me know how you get on, as i said all makes and brands fit so differently it makes it hard for people to find a good fit. i remember customers would come to us from other bra fitter not happy, lots of times it was M&S and would leave us very happy.

lindyloo57 · 18/03/2017 21:50

O how i wish i could fit in a 30" xx
i was in marks the other day, and the 34s are really tight.

SorrelForbes · 18/03/2017 21:53

lindyloo57 if you measure 30 with a tape measure which isn't stretchy then you can fit in to to a 30 band bra. The reason your current 34 is tight is probably because the cups are too small. It's normal for a bra to leave marks (like sock marks) but they shouldn't be sore.

Lweji · 18/03/2017 21:59

i remember customers would come to us from other bra fitter not happy, lots of times it was M&S and would leave us very happy.

From which fitter?

And happy because? What made them happy with their bras?

KatharinaRosalie · 19/03/2017 06:55

Pacific, I think you have missed some letters there. 30 and 37 measurements would be more of a 30F cup. Or bigger, lindy probably didn't measure the Bra Intervention way and standing up overbust measurements are generally smaller.

lindy go try a 30 bra back to front, just for fun. Yes some bras fit smaller, but I promise that if you measure 30 inches, most high street bras in size 30 will fit you. If they don't, it's because the cup is too small. 30F is my size and I measure 31'' under bust - so if a 30 bra fits me, I can't imagine that the same band of fabric suddenly shrinks when you touch it.

PacificDogwod · 19/03/2017 09:50

Oh, I agree, if in doubt, down-size the band and go a cup size or 2 bigger. I did count DD as an extra size though, but don't disagree, OP could well need a G cup.

PacificDogwod · 19/03/2017 09:51

Sorry, lindy might Blush

bec3105 · 19/03/2017 17:16

Thanks everyone you've been a great help Smile
