Is there a foundation for someone who hates foundation?

It always feels like it's sitting on my skin.
Doesn't have to be heavy coverage, just something to even out skin tone, not cover my freckles, but not sit in the lines around my eyes when I smile. Not too shiney but not mattifying.
Suppose I want my skin but better
Does does that make sense Confused

Chanel vitalumiere aqua, it's lovely.

oldwife · 16/03/2017 16:34

I hate foundation.

Most days I go bare faced - but for make up occasions I use Laura Geller Balance and Glow from this kit.

Balance and Glow

It's more than enough coverage for minor imperfections/colour differences but doesn't feel like anything on.

Chantecaiile TM is really good, shades are a bit random though.

I also tried Bobbi Brown moisturising tinted balm and it felt very nice and easy to wear.

ySL do a good range of BB cream and primers which are all you need in the Summer, have a look there as well.

Another fan of Chanel here. I wear Perfection Velvet Lumiere in the Autumn/Winter and swap to Vitalumiere in late Spring/Summer.

Have you tried Chanel's Les Beiges?

sammy891 · 16/03/2017 19:27

I'm the same and really get on with Nars Tinted Moisturizer, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua and Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation. I have tried loads and hate the feeling of foundation sitting on my skin.

farfarawayfromhome · 16/03/2017 19:31

YSL touché eclat foundo is your friend! Light as a feather and makes you look amazing.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 16/03/2017 19:34

Have you tried the new Touche Eclat Faraway?

It used to be lightweight and gorgeous but it's changed beyond recognition after the reformulation. I love the old one but had to switch to Shiseido Syncro Glow, which by the way is wonderful. Another one for you to try OP.

Maudlinmaud · 16/03/2017 20:08

Chardonnay I know what you mean about the new formula but I stuck with it and enjoy it now. It has more staying power and doesn't just slide off my face, the colours changed too. I was a bd50 in the original but I am bd40 or even b45 in the new version.

farfarawayfromhome · 16/03/2017 20:12

chardonnay yes..I think....I've honestly noticed zero difference. When did it Change?

farfarawayfromhome · 16/03/2017 20:12

OooH maudlin I'm BD 50 too...I love it.

SuperBeagle · 16/03/2017 20:14

Chanel Vitalumiere and Diorskin Nude are both great. Smile

BB creams are generally very good, too! Clarins does a lovely one.

SuperBeagle · 16/03/2017 20:15

I wouldn't recommend the new formula of YSL Touche Eclat. It's much thicker than the old one. I'm not a fan (it used to be one of my favourites).

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 16/03/2017 20:16

I used to be b40 and was matched to b25 in the new one, I think it's changed 6 months ago, or maybe more, it has a lot more coverage, it used to be light to medium and it's medium to full now but I don't want/need coverage so it feels too heavy to me.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 16/03/2017 20:18

Shiseido Syncro Skin Glow is something I would recommend for all those mourning the old Touche EClat.

confusedandemployed · 16/03/2017 20:20

Placemarking so I can write all these down!

Maudlinmaud · 16/03/2017 20:21

far it changed a year or more ago and initially I wasn't keen..but I like that it stays put and doesn't slip and slide all over the place. I swear my holy grail was chanel pro lumier (?) Which was discontinued. Whhhhyyyy Chanel? Whhhyyy?

LoudAndLarge · 16/03/2017 20:22

Georgio Armani luminous siik.

Maudlinmaud · 16/03/2017 20:26

chardonnay all beauty have that shiseido one for £22 in some colours. I guess I need to get matched though. I am a sucker for foundation.

tigerrun · 16/03/2017 20:33

The Origins tinted moisturiser is brilliant - it changes tone on your skin (so I think it only comes in one colour option). Properly makes your skin look like a better version of you without looking like you are wearing foundation - very sheer, worth a try at the counter anyway!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 16/03/2017 20:34

Oh! A bit late! Smile

I just bought some and a bottle tends to last me at least a year.

Definitely get matched and try it, it also comes in a matter version and has lots of shades in Neutral, Gold and Pink.

Not a lot of coverage though.

Maudlinmaud · 16/03/2017 20:38

I don't mind the coverage being light, I think full coverage ages me. I will try it, thanks for suggesting it as I wouldn't have entertained the idea.

abeandhalo · 16/03/2017 20:41

Sounds to me like you would be happier with a BB cream than a foundation. I love the way it evens out skin tone but just feels like a moisturiser.

AgentCooper · 16/03/2017 20:45

I look embalmed in foundation but get on very well with Clinique CC cream!

ThursdayLastWeek · 16/03/2017 20:48

I love Lily Lolo mineral foundation.

Haffiana · 16/03/2017 22:18

My absolute favourite is Mac Studio Face and Body Foundation. It is quite different from most foundations because it is water based. It is perfect for evening out skin tone, which is the sole reason I use a foundation (unless I am going out in the evening). It doesn't rub off easily, which is important for me because I am a face fiddler and in fact it can be used as a concealer for eg legs. You apply it with fingers, not a brush, and this is important because when it has applied properly it suddenly changes texture and stops sliding around under your fingers, so you know when to stop rubbing it in and therefore don't overwork it it which is often what cause foundation to flake..

Coverage is fairly light, more like a BB cream than foundation, but you can add more where you feel you need it in layers until you are happy. It blends out perfectly, is not heavy, and has a slightly dewy finish.

The final reason to use it is that it photographs well - you won't get those orange or white face photos with this one.

It is also cheap if you buy the huge size bottle on their website...
