I am flying to the Caribbean in a couple of weeks and have used some points to upgrade to business class. I've never flown business before and I feel like I'll be a bit self conscious unless I look the part. Any suggestions? I'm a chubby 14-16 and I'd like to be comfy but stylish - I realise that is a tall order! TIA.

Fly business class last week long haul
Went in jeans, tshirt and cardigan with my go-walks on my feet
Came back in yoga pants and a stretch top with flip flops on my feet.

90% of the cabin were in jeans or leggings. Some changed into PJs.

I have my pjs at the ready sparkles! It's more the lounge and stuff. I know it's daft to care but I would rather plan it so I don't feel silly on the day!
At the moment I'm considering black light cotton skinnies and a grey oversized vest top. And I've got a lovely bag which will help :)

Outfit sounds perfect. Agree though - whatever you're comfortable in, everyone will be comfy and casual for a long haul. Plus once you've had a glass of fizz in the airport you won't care anyway!

I've got a few trips away coming up and am planning on my Hush Amie joggers for every one. Sandals for the hot places, and possibly sandals for the flights anyway, my feet get really hot on planes. You'll be fine. Have a lovely time.

People in business class are just normal people. What do you think they'll be wearing? Pin stripe suits?

I'd wear some tregging type bottoms in black or charcoal, a vest top, a long sleeve top, and a wrap cardigan from all
Saints. Manicure and and big pair of sunnies. Fresh dewy make up that I will remove as soon as I'm on the plane and either a pair of Nike or birkenstocks.

I usually fly business class and people are dressed the same as everyone else! With better carry on bags though ;) go for comfy loose fitting trousers, cashmere jumper and a huge big blanket scarf.

I'm flying business from Australia to the U.K today and am wearing jeans, t shirt, stripy hoodie and trainers. Once on board I change into dark grey yoga pants and a long sleeved loose top with flight socks topped with fluffy socks. In my experience of flying both first and business you never saw such a scruffy lot in the lounge so don't worry. Just enjoy it it's well worth the points.

I'm going first class long haul Sunday, wearing leggings, a long sleeved grey loose jersey top with a black vest underneath. My black supergas and taking fluffy socks. I fly a lot and I care not what people think. It's a 12 hour flight for me! I'm also taking stuff to give myself a mini facial before I sleep :)

I wouldn't bother to dress up for business class. Just wear what you normally would

OH used to fly long haul in business class every month. He always wore jeans and a polo shirt. People just wear comfortable clothes for flying in. IMO skinny jeans would be the most uncomfortable thing I can think of to fly in.

I used to fly business class. Work paid. I didn't get paid all that much. Dontvsssume you'll be surrounded by rich posh snazzy dressers.

I think I'm more worried about getting it 'right' rather than being underdressed - if anything it's the opposite, I know I'll stick out like a sore thumb if I make too much effort.
When I say I've not done it before I mean as an adult; I flew business and first when i was a child and I remeber everyone dressing quite smartly but it was the 80s so I realise it's not the case anymore! My usual travel outfit is a very frumpy pair of linen trousers which I've sent in the direction of the bin having realised they're at least 20 years too old for me and probably 20 years put of date too!

When we flew to NYC, I wore a really soft stretchy pair of black jeggings, a soft comfy sweater, silk scarf and a smart cardigan over the top. Worst mistake was very fitted boots which I took off just after take off and because my feet swelled, I could barely get them on again. Wear roomy boots or soft shoes. There was a huge mix onboard tbh, and those that were dressed smartly when boarding seemed to reappear from the loos in PJs which was amusing!! Coming home on a night flight, most people looked like they'd just left a homeless shelter - joggers, t's and hoodies all the way.

I flew to California in the summer business class. I wore hush amy joggers too. They were super comfortable - the best choice to fly in I've ever made. I also wore a vest top and a white company wool hoodie on top.

If you want to be controversial, I saw someone at the airport flying home who was boarding a flight wearing a string bikini and a crochet cardigan. Not sure I'd recommend that though!!

Wow scandi! That's a strong look :/ I guess it would clear the rest of the plane and I might get an extra seat!
Those hush joggers do look lovely, I should be going into London this weekend so I will try and track some down.

Just wear what you want! People couldn't care less what others in the cabin are wearing. If you're going to a holiday destination, you'll find most people
are wearing jeans/leggings/jogging pants and t shirts or polos. Anyway business class is not what it used to be, both in terms of people travelling business and service on board so I really would not even think about your appearance. First is more mixed, you can have seriously smart people but equally some very dressed down people wearing (very expensive...) track suits...
You just want to be comfortable. I find dark lose leggings or smart jogging pants (eg white company) with a cotton t shirt, waterfall cashmere cardigan and scarf as the best combination. I never forget my wipes to clean up my face/remove make up.

I've flown more in the past year than my previous 37 years in earth (never business class though) and my only advice is, do not wear tight jeans, or shoes, have fresh smelling feet and spare socks and if you really want to be prepared a foot spray or cream. Always always always take a lip balm or cream as your lips dry out so much. Don't forget to pack some decent head/ear phones. You are most likely to be the person who gets the duff ones! 😂
