How to style this dress for Spring?

Have a night out next week and am sick of my usual black dresses. Really fancy wearing this dress with some bright red lipstick.

As bare legs are not an option in Yorkshire in March, would any kind/colour of tights look ok with it?

Dress

That's a gorgeous dress, shame it would look hideous on me.
I have to always wear black tights as I have terrible legs, but assuming you don't I'd go for nude fishnets.

NotTodaySatan · 11/03/2017 17:42

Cheers Brillo. Have to be honest, I'm not keen on nude fishnets. My default would be black opaques but they seem a bit dark and heavy for the colour of the dress.

Would a mustardy colour be too OTT?

This is a summer dress and would only look right with sandals and bare legs in my opinion!

buzzmoon · 11/03/2017 17:47

I think black tights and a black cardigan would be fine

DrScholl · 11/03/2017 17:48

just NO

eurochick · 11/03/2017 17:51

No to black tights! That would look dreadful. It needs bare legs.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 11/03/2017 17:55

that would look ridiculous with black opaques...like ALLLLLLL your real clothes were in the wash and this was the only thing left to wear.

Nude fishnets are an option or maybe a dusty grey or green/jade to match the pattern? And not too opaque maybe 40 denier?

Bluntness100 · 11/03/2017 17:57

Do not wear black opaques, honestly just no....it's a summer dress, so if you can't do bare legs, then do nude nylons.

Mustard opaques are in my opinion worse than black.,😂

DrScholl · 11/03/2017 17:58

its quite an odd dress - esp for a night out

10Betty10 · 11/03/2017 17:59

Black will look odd with those colours- it's a light, summery style. Mustard would look a bit OTT and potentially a bit mad cat lady. You need nude skin toned tights or bare legs really.

RemusLupinsChristmasMovie · 11/03/2017 18:00

I'd have worn that with opaques and Dr Martens in 1989. I wouldn't wear it for a night out now, unless v casual in the summer with bare legs.

Gah81 · 11/03/2017 18:27

What a lovely dress! I wouldn't wear it with black opaques personally; the dress is light and airy and the black would be too heavy for it IMO.

Wolford nude tights are excellent - lightweight but still give a bit of coverage. I would then wear nude or tan shoes and accessories.

Gah81 · 11/03/2017 18:29

I think mustard tights would work if you are very confident about looking a little kooky, which can be a gorgeous and striking look.

apotheke · 11/03/2017 18:32

That is such a summer dress. Absolutely no way it would look ok with black. Nudes or as others have said if you can pull off the quirky mustard look then that. At a push.

ChishandFips33 · 11/03/2017 18:32

Not the same pattern, but here's a picture off their website in a similar dress with dark tights and colourful shoes

It's a quirky dress so you could probably get away with coloured tights if your personality can rock it

Nude tights also an option, or fake tan?

mustard? Are you Malvolio?

KungFuEric · 11/03/2017 18:33

I just don't see it as a night out dress, it's a casual strolling around in sandals dress.

ChishandFips33 · 11/03/2017 18:43

Just googled for more ideas - some are wearing ankle socks and low heeled Mary Janes - doesn't solve the whole leg problem though

Mustard cardigan and dark green tights?

Navy cardigan/jacket and navy tights (too samey?)

I'd wear mustard opaques with it. It's an awesome dress.

BusterGonad · 11/03/2017 20:35

NO to black opaques, I think they are a lazy option and particularly so with a white dress. Try mustard, bottle green, maybe navy but not black!

soupmaker · 11/03/2017 20:40

I like the idea of bottle green or light grey opaques. But I'd only wear opaques with ankle boots. What footwear are you thinking? Great dress, wish I could rock it.

RemusLupinsChristmasMovie · 11/03/2017 20:43

Unless you are very young, very cute and very quirky, mustard tights are unlikely to look great, I'd say.

Specialagentblond · 11/03/2017 21:51

Maybe some tan knee length boots?

BusterGonad · 12/03/2017 06:53

Yes special that does sound nice, or pale grey ones!

herecomesthsun · 12/03/2017 11:35

I think bottle green tights, bottle green cardie, black or tan or green or grey shoes or boots would be fine,
