Thread 1 Thread 2 Thread 3 Thread 4 Thread 5

For those who are taking a peek and wondering whether previous threads are worth reading, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients for our particular skin needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are in as much detail as possible, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

Make sure you've read the earlier threads (or at the very least the first one) so we're not being asked to answer previously raised questions. It takes a lot of time and effort to answer these queries and often the answers can be found in previous threads, but if you still have questions relating specifically to you, use the following form to make life easier on us. We generally answer one a day on a first come first served basis. Not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly.

Stainless Missed your urea question but the 10% urea body lotion I use had a warning on the leaflet saying not to use if you have any kidney issues. Think we established that it meant some urea is absorbed into the body and if your kidneys are dodgy, they might not manage the extra urea. Can't remember if children were mentioned on the leaflet but because of the kidney warning I personally would avoid using that level of urea on a child just because of their size. But I'm not basing that on anything solid. (If any of that makes sense. Sorry, I don't have the leaflet anymore.)

EnidButton · 24/03/2017 21:57

Olli do you have snacks and water? Really hope you're not waiting long.

EnidButton · 24/03/2017 21:59

Eucerin 10% urea body lotion info leaflet:

www.lloydspharmacy.com/wcsstore7.00.00.610/ExtendedSitesCatalogAssetStore/Attachment/pils/2343184.pdf

Just says not to use on large areas if you have kidney problems.

Ollivander84 · 24/03/2017 23:25

Enid - just a protein shake! Scanned for an hour and waiting now

EnidButton · 24/03/2017 23:33

Glad you've eaten. Waiting around is the worst bit isn't it. Flowers

Ollivander84 · 24/03/2017 23:43

Definitely. They're laughing at me being all organised with pjs etc Smile

EnidButton · 25/03/2017 00:56

I'm impressed. Smile

Ollivander84 · 25/03/2017 01:03

Not cauda equina. But two disc gone at l4/l5 and l5/s1 so surgery in the near future

banivani · 25/03/2017 05:27

That's a bummer ollivander :( hope you get it scheduled soon so you don't have to wait long.

yongnian · 25/03/2017 08:37

Eek olli thinking of you Flowers. Hope you are home now and having a chance to rest/process/order some consolatory online skincare purchases
stainless yes do check out the ins and outs of Urea...the topicrem one I'm using currently is the SOS repair body cream. I have also used something by them for atopic skin without urea which was also very very good but can't remember which one, sorry.
ts I'm planning to check out the squalene too, have used it something else that was good.
Hormonal acne seems to be definitely creeping back to my skinworld..,,rubbish...but milder than before and much more effectively dealt with now, at least.
I also now undoubtedly have the first beginnings of an upper eyelid crepe. Bummer.

Dulcimena · 25/03/2017 10:14

Hope you're doing OK Olli Flowers

That's a really good idea Bo, like a monthly round up? We're all trialling different things and I lose track of who's using what tbh. I know you keep records but I'm not that organised...

Happy weekend all.

Ollivander84 · 25/03/2017 10:26

I'm awake and at work whilst going "ow" a lot
I have naproxen, paracetamol, diazepam and dihydracodeine Grin

Ollivander84 · 25/03/2017 10:37

I have used up
A bottle of Argan Magic conditioner from TK maxx. Inoffensive, would repurchase

Secret key 24k moisturiser. This was my third pot, would repurchase. It's not greasy or takes ages to rub in

Heimish all clean balm. Nice, would repurchase but have too many cleansers to use up!! V gentle on skin and removed makeup really well

EnidButton · 25/03/2017 12:51

Shock at you going to work! That's dedication. Glad it's not c.e. Sounds painful though. Flowers Hope you're nice and floaty and pain free for the rest of the day.

Ollivander84 · 25/03/2017 13:22

Sadly despite all those meds, it's bloody agony! They can admit me for pain management if I need

mintmagnummm · 25/03/2017 14:29

If any of you wear a tinted moisturiser or a bb cream etc do you put a powder or anything over the top to set it and give a little more coverage? Problem is most powders contain talc and/or bismuth and my dehydrated skin seems to not like powders but I feel like tinted moisturiser just isn't enough to make my skin look nicer and I cannot use foundation so it's a vicious circle arrrrrgh!!!
Got a new tinted moisturiser which is actually quite nice as in not greasy, no fragrance etc but I feel like I still look awful :(

Ollivander84 · 25/03/2017 14:32

I do, just on my chin/T zone. Usually bourjois or NYX HD

mintmagnummm · 25/03/2017 15:11

Thanks olli what do u apply it with?

Are there any products that cover redness, blemishes, pores etc but that are lightweight and natural looking??

Ollivander84 · 25/03/2017 15:36

I just use a fluffy brush
The main BB creams I use are Korean brand as they're pale enough for me!
What's the issue with foundation? Sorry I'm drugged and might have missed it Grin

mintmagnummm · 25/03/2017 16:00

Ha ha no worries hollin I take codeine daily so I'm always drugged Grin. Foundation just never sits right on my skin, it either looks shiny or just way too dry, creasing in all my dehydration lines and making my pores/filaments look horrible and because my skin is quite reactive I usually break out, I just cannot find a base I like!

mintmagnummm · 25/03/2017 19:10

I'm not happy with the texture of my skin at all I think this is one of my main problems! Aswell as the sensitivity!

Ollivander84 · 25/03/2017 19:16

Ooh I've just received a tester product from boots - oil free eye makeup remover!

Kennington · 26/03/2017 08:58

I love 5% urea for my face - it is soooo plumping.
Does anyone else use this? For me it is much better than hyluronic (which block pores for me - no idea why).
I don't use it all over my face but I find it truest amazing stuff.
Anyone with me on this?

botemp · 26/03/2017 09:30

Olli have some more Flowers and some Chocolate while we're at it. Hope you get some relief from the agony soon and that you don't work as an air traffic controller.
