Anyone had tattoo removal?

I have a tattoo on my ankle around the same circumference as a mug, basically a quote in the shape of a heart. It's awful. Has anyone had tattoo removal? Did it hurt/scar?

Booking a consultation today but just wanted others experience!

I've no experience, but I'd like to keep an eye on this thread as I have a tattoo on my lower back I want removed. It is quite big so don't want a cover up...

I'm in the process of having my tattoo removed, it is about mug sized, all black and on the bottom of my back.

I've had about 10 sessions so far and the tattoo is really fading, however it takes a long time. When I first started I was lasered every 4 weeks, but as it fades you have to leave longer in between to give the ink time to break down and be carried away by your body.

The more ink there is the more it hurts, so at first you will take frequent breaks from the laser each session because it is like being stabbed with a thousand tiny spikes and you'll need to take a breather and unclench your teeth so you don't scream As the ink fades it's much less painful and faster, my laserer charges less for these later appointments. The pain is manageable at the beginning though, and you can take a couple of painkillers 30 minutes before you go to take the edge off.

Don't go when you're on your period though! It's agonising.

You could also consider non laser tattoo removal - not suitable for all inks but may be an option to consider
