What foundation do you use ?

I get married in a couple of months and I'm looking for something full coverage that isn't going to go orange as the day goes on. It's really important that my face is the same colour as my chest, which ordinarily it is not, as trying to get a sodding foundation light enough is the impossible mission.

So far I've tried Lancôme teint miracle 005 and 008, both go orange after a few minutes of application. Bobbi brown long wear even finish in alabaster, perfect colour, horrid finish, not enough coverage and wears off within a few hours. Clinique even better foundation palest shade is not pale enough. Revlon colourstay, fairly good colour but is too drying and powdery. No7 not pale enough, dior goes too orange.

Please someone have the miraculous answer I am looking for.

Oh I forgot to add- since it's for your wedding, try to get one WITHOUT SPF in- I'm not sure of the reasons, but foundations with SPF in do not photograph well. They make you look completely white and nose-less when a flash is used

gonegrey56 · 09/03/2017 12:56

Sali Hughes (Guardians make up journalist who I really rate) has just recommended a new Armani foundation called Power Fabric. She even suggested it was a good choice for brides .
I know Armani foundations are great for pale skins . I use shade 3, not the palest in the range, and I am very fair .
Worth trying ?

Ancienchateau · 09/03/2017 13:09

Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick. Lots of shades. Lasts all day. V light but has primer/concealer effect built in.

PollyPerky · 09/03/2017 16:50

You might want to think about using a primer under your foundation to stop it looking or turning orange.

I've recently started using Bare Minerals Prep Lotion spf 50 which is very white. It actually stops my Dior 101 looking so dark.

Nars comes in 3 tones- pink, neutral and yellow. I am sure Siberia would suit you or Mac N10.

beargrass · 09/03/2017 17:03

Give Bare Minerals a go.

Scoose · 09/03/2017 17:06

I got matched to the new Clinique one lately in shade alabaster I bought it but it's just far too dark/orange! I have just bought the illamasqua foundation in shade 2 and it's really pale and perfect for my skin tone with good coverage. I also like Dior star foundation in ivory

fuzzyllama · 09/03/2017 20:45

Thanks for the links, will watch those shortly.

I've had a quick google of gosh, certainly like the price tag, so will pick up a bottle of that to try. Illamasqua sell samples online, so I've got one of those in shade 2 on the way to give a go as well. Next week I'm going to go into the city and pester the counters in John Lewis for samples of the others mentioned.

With the suggestion of Korean foundations, where would I begin to look for them ?

OP posts:
BobbinThreadbare123 · 09/03/2017 20:47

Look on Amazon for Korean stuff. I use a Tonymoly powder compact and it's so pale I have to use shade 2! It looks like a kitty cat.

Aquasport · 09/03/2017 20:48

Lancôme 010 miracle

ClaryIsTheBest · 09/03/2017 20:50

I would have also suggested Korean foundations. Missha is nice imo. I really like their cushion bb cream.

Are you wondering where you could buy them (online) or what brands...?

fuzzyllama · 09/03/2017 21:10

Both! I've literally never even thought about Korean makeup for foundation.

everygalaxy · 09/03/2017 21:13

I'm so pale one mua had to get out the foundation she uses for the med school exams Grin
For my wedding I had MAC - it was amazing for everyday I use maybelline Ivory porcelain because I'm lazy

ClaryIsTheBest · 09/03/2017 21:38

So... asian beauty brands.

I like Shiseido. But I'm not super super pale. But a good friend (And shopping companion is). She has shiseido bb cream, and she can use it in winter. But bb cream obviously isn't foundation, so eh....

As for Korean brands... Are you willing to buy them online or?

AyeAmarok · 09/03/2017 21:47

This one by Laura Mercier. I'm pale as pale can be (Scottish!), and the pinky tone of it makes it a perfect match for me as it never looks orange. The palest MAC ones are all far too orange and dark for me.

AyeAmarok · 09/03/2017 21:48

Sorry, colour is called Rose Ivory. Smile

It's really nice foundation too, texture-wise.

Bourgois 123 cc cream in Ivory or any of their foundations

Nicketynac · 09/03/2017 22:37

I just bought a Missha BB cream from Amazon, I think 13 was the palest shade. I googled it to look at colour swatches to compare to other foundation shades. Happy to say it was lovely and pale but maybe not enough coverage for a wedding and it does contain SPF.
I have the Body Shop whitening drops to mix with a Mac foundation but it's not easy as the foundation itself is very thick and difficult to get out of the bottle. There is a lot of wastage.

TheMightyMing · 09/03/2017 22:51

I'm dark Haired and eyed but with milk white skin. I used to use Clinique even better foundation in ivory, but a few years ago switched to LOreal Cc cream in anti dullness , to counteract my sallowness. It's amazing. Goes on as a white liquid and kind of settles to your skin colour. Medium coverage. I'm 46 and though my skins pretty good for my age, I'm obviously not within a line or ten :) . It gives a nice dewy finish and then I go over with Make up revolution radiance pallette which is another wonder discovery at £8.00.

hollinhurst84 · 09/03/2017 22:58

Urban decay all nighter comes up darker but their naked skin is paler
I'm looking at what I have here - I'm cool toned redhead
Illamasqua
Urban decay naked skin
Mac in NW10 and NW13
Sensual skin enhancer in SX02 (I use as concealer or mix with moisturiser for coverage)
L'oreal infallible in porcelain
Makeup forever HD foundation in R220 (R = pink/cool and Y = yellow/warm)
Chanel les beiges in 12 but probably too dark for you
Armani power fabric would be worth looking at

Ratonastick · 10/03/2017 09:08

I've tried more than a few and have more or less settled on Eve Lom oil free in Alabaster 1 or Chanel aqualumiere in 001 (which I have only ever found in duty free). If you have a convenient Space NK they were really helpful but you'll need to plunge your credit card into a bucket of cold water afterwards as some of their suggestions were terrrifyingly pricey.

fuzzyllama · 10/03/2017 10:48

Thanks for all the suggestions, will look into them. Had a look on amazon for korean makeup, still not sure on where to begin with them Confused.

The foundation sample website is telling me that every shade I want is out of stock, annoying, samples of everything would have been great. I'm going to check out the armani power fabric one.

hollinhurst is the sensual skin enhancer worth the money ? No where to get samples of that in the UK, but I've seen it on cult beauty before and have been tempted by that, and the sculpting contour.

OP posts:
fuzzyllama · 10/03/2017 10:54

so, just looking at the armani power fabric, it contains spf25, will that cause flashback ? Do I want something wit no spf whatsoever ?

OP posts:
hollinhurst84 · 10/03/2017 11:01

I like it, I tend to use it as concealer daily then blended for nights out. It's v v pigmented and you need a tiny bit so it does last

hollinhurst84 · 10/03/2017 11:04

For samples try eBay as well, there's often a lot on there
