Lip fillers...your experiences

Downtime? Pleased? negative experiences? How long does it last?

My lips are slowly disappearing. I've had cheek fillers before with Dr Mountford and they were great- got 18 months out of it - but her waiting list is now 5 months for lips . I'd be with one of her team for lips.
Cost is from £350 (Harley St-ish.)

I am terrified of looking overdone or having permanent bruising or anything going wrong.

Any comments?

I've had them twice, first time (stupidly) in a woman's conservatory and more recently in a proper clinic.

2nd time was miles better. Had one syringe both times (this time juvederm ultra) and neither looked overdone but I'm much happier with the shape of these. I didn't even need numbing cream this time the nurse was so good!

My lips were a bit sore and swollen for a day or two but that was it.

My first lot were done well over a year ago and there's still some of the original product in there so it lasts well on me

Had mine done several times. Revaness I think it's called. It's basically hylauronic acid so a natural solution your body makes itself.

Pain- hmm yes it was fairly painful- it stings basically but they do apply numbing cream which eases it a bit and luckily it's all over fairly quickly. Afterwards it doesn't hurt too much just feels a little bruised.

Results- I loved them. Biggest difference was just having a lovely shaped Cupid's bow instead of shapeless lips. Been back 5 times now and will be going again soon.

I know a few good places up north but sounds like you're based down south so probably a little far from you!

Bleurgh.. they look good on you but are much fuller than I want mine. Mine are about 1/2 to a 1/3 the size of yours (as they are now) so I want a tiny bit doing.

How long does it last? I've heard people say 4 - 6 months so at £350 a go that's pretty pricey.

Following with interest and would love recommendations of practitioners too...

Watching with interest. I have no interest in looking like Kylie Jenner! But a wee bit of extra definition and smoothing would be nice. Basically my lips but slightly improved.

MrDacres - that's exactly what mine are like now. My lips aren't thin to start with but I needed some help balancing the top out and then the bottom done to match

You'll get a consultation before you actually pay anything in my experience - and if you do pay upfront it won't be even half the cost of the procedure. Go for the consultation and see if the consultant is able to do what you want them to do. They will be able to, I'd imagine.

I think it's impossible to look 'overdone' with lip fillers unless a)you have a very bad/inexperienced practitioner or b) you have way more than 2 syringes at once. The celebs who all look ludicrous will get theirs from 4+

Just be aware OP that some peoples bodies naturally break down fillers faster than others, unfortunately mine lasted around 2 and a half months

These days market is flooded with clinics and salons offering botox and filler treatments but always do your research before go for treatment. It should be done by the fully qualified doctor with training in aesthetic procedures. Check their profiles, reviews and before after picture portfolio. Go for recommendations. In lot of clinics you only see the team working for the clinic not actual clinician. Ask for consultation from doctor. Check the products they are using. Botox is prescription only, fillers are not prescription only but it soon going to be by law. So choose the right product. I have been doing lip fillers for few years in my clinic, I see all sort in my clinic. I am quite happy to answer any questions if you have.

There is someone that I know to talk to and she has clearly had them done and they look awful. They just look totally odd. They perhaps can look quite natural but it can go so easily wrong. I would leave well alone. Google Lesley ash and trout pout.

I had mine done by a Dr a week ago using juvederm and am very pleased. I'm 42 and just wanted my top lip evened out (one side is smaller than the other) and a little more fullness in the bottom lip, as it's got smaller as I've got older! My keywords were 'natural' and 'not Kylie Jenner' The dr was great - he'd inject a small amount and give me the mirror to check if I wanted more. What you see there and then 'in chair' is what it will look like after any post-treatment swelling goes down, which I hadn't appreciated, and helped me feel in control of any trout pout risk! However, you will pay the same for the treatment whether they use only a small amount of filler or the full syringe.
A week on and my lips look natural and I can wear lipstick without my lips looking uneven. Those who know say it looks great, those who don't haven't noticed!

Also I iced my lips and took arnica so no bruising. Minimal swelling above and below the lips for a day or so, but went into work. The injections do make you flinch. Think of popping a spot on your lip line!

I would only want a subtle increase too, a natural look. Can anyone recommend any near West Yorkshire?

I had 0.5ml in my for minimal plumping. They looked fresher. It wasn't particularly painful, but did feel sensitive to heat for about a week afterwards.

I've had mine done at Tracy Mountford's clinic twice, by one of her team.

I explained what I wanted and got it (completely natural just to plump out some lines and give definition, NOT the fashionable full lips lots of people go for, or the Michelle Pfeiffer 'turned out sides top lip')

They were swollen initially for about 24 hours but I passed it off as a reaction to something so that not even my husband could tell (except to ask had I done my hair/lost weight/say my skin was looking good...!)

Mine lasted almost 12 months the first time. I'm going back when these shrink down, wouldn't go anywhere else for peace of mind.

I had mine done in the Consultant Clinic. They use a cannula so the downtime is zero and there’s no bruising. I have a ml put in every six months and no one has ever commented on them being over the top. I love them!

I was shocked to find only 2 in my town

I had mine done, my bottom lip was a little uneven, so I wanted it plumped a little on one side.

I agree with everyone else do your research and make sure they are qualified Dentist, Doctor, Cosmetic Nurse etc. I had mine done by Dr. Amy Bachra in Godalming, really lovely and professional and I was very happy the result!

I would like to share my personal experience with the clinic Natali Kelly, 69 Walton St, London SW3 2HT, United Kingdom.
Because for me even today I still work on recovering my body from that experience.
Took me some time to think about what I have to say, it did not cost me money cost me health...and I do want to create some sort of awareness when it comes to going and injecting anything in your body because you don't know what can happen to you.
I did a lip injection here at this clinic for the second time in my life, I choose this clinic because someone close to me recommended it. I wanted to go somewhere safe and go have a great result.
I will attach also pictures with my correspondence via email between me and the clinic.
I want to write this because, on those days of being sick, I couldn't find any support from NHS ( for them I was just another girl with lip injection)..the only related thing..explanation that I could find regarding what I was experiencing after my lip injection was on an American forum ( see picture attached).
I was experiencing: headaches, nose numbness, tooth numbness, palate numbness, legs and arms, tiredness, and difficulty in talking, reacting, or doing anything else.
The only person who cared about me was my scared boyfriend, who couldn't recognize me and was caring for me like a baby because I was unable to function normally.
I was having waves, moments when I was experiencing all these "desperate second effects" when my body was trying to fight against something then I was falling into an extremely tired person, talking in slow-motion.
In the UK I've been to 3 times to emergency and all I have received from them was: Oh yeah...lip injection, don't worry go home sleep you are tired.
It was very frustrating because nobody was interested in giving me some further investigation.
I decided to go to another country, privately doing a lot of blood tests and even an MRI Scan. Thank god that the results were good. I have also received a vitamin infusion, which helpt me a lot! ( all this has been done in Romania, Regina Maria Hospital ).
All this happened in 1 week or more, this cost me more than £1000, I have lost my job, so yeah just all the great stuff.
So to anyone there who is experiencing this please be aware that this can happen, ask for a receipt..know what has been injected, and know everything because what I have experienced was nothing nice at all.

Regarding Natali and the clinic itself, I was looking to find more support. I was back to her...to inject me with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, she was nice to me, empathic, but also she made me feel like I was an impostor who is trying to defame her, which I was not. I was a client...who was experiencing something that never experienced before, looking to find an explanation.

I want them done again because I loved them but I think I'll ask for it in slightly different areas the next time.
