Circa £100 to spend in JL on makeup

Not a single clue about makeup. Can't use it. Collection 2000 is as far as I go. Moisturise, powder, mascara is all I wear...badly.

I would really like to look lovely at an upcoming event. What is a must have for a lovey face that's lasts for a whole day? I'd really appreciate some help please. I'd quite to look pretty glam.

Go to Bobbi Brown or Laura Mercier counters, they do good makeup tutorials/applications and the products are good quality but generally not quite as pricey as Tom Ford etc.

Or Charlotte Tilbury for a more "glam" look if your local JL stocks it.

Book a make up session with Bobbi Brown so you can see if you like what they use on you. The cost is normally redeemable against purchases. That way you're not doing it 'blind'

But if you don't normally wear make up, and you aren't totally skint, I'd recommend getting used to make up via Bourjois, L'Oreal etc to get a feel of what works with your skin/ colours first and then have a splurge at JL.
If you're not used to applying make up regularly then high end isn't going to magically make you look incredible until you can use it confidently.

Oo I would go to hourglass and get a few things from there - foundation, blushes and primer if budget allows

Pps idea re makeover is good, Mac also do redeemable against purchase makeover for £30 I think so get them to do a full face (can specify daytime, natural look etc) and buy the bits you liked there and then

Definitely go to Bobbi Brown. Their tutorials are the best, they are totally free and they aren't pushy at all about what you by. It would be a good idea to book tho. Have fun-this is basically my dream scenario!

Ok. Thanks. I didn't know you could book tutorials. I will see who my local JL has! Will probably be a bit scared of sitting and having it done though!

I am another vote in favour of Bobbi Brown. I did one of their free make up lessons and learnt loads and they did not pressure me to buy at all.
