Please advise... I usually home colour my hair every six weeks or so, all good except for last couple months have gone a shade darker as my hair looked brassy Confused but did it yesterday and it's so bloody dark ! I have just gone and got another one shade lighter to pop on but am wondering if it will react as have washed hair three times since .. what do you think ?

If it's just that it's too dark I'd hold fire; a lot of the time hair dyes lighten considerably over the first few washes. I'm dyed red, have been for years and even though I now don't need to dye that regularly my fresh dye colour is very different from the true colour it turns in to.

A lighter colour will not lighten the dark colour. You would need to strip the hair colour to lighten it. It will gradually lighten itself as it gets washed

Oh bugger really ? No one will recognise me at work tomorrow lol it's very dark !

I had this once, although I'm a brunette and the manufacturer told me to use vosene, as it stripped the color out. Not sure if it is still made but a similar product may help.

It will fade it's prob the difference you're baulking at,,,and maybe it's better than brassy ? Every cloud,,,😁

Ta Blunt yes anything is better than the Bet Lynch look I had achieved before Grinbut the new box of hair colour keeps waving at me ! I shall resist temptation!

I've heard Head & shoulders shampoo original formula strips colour a bit.

Jmangel · 05/03/2017 13:30

Google on YouTube bicarbonate of soda and vitamin c eff tablets - mixed together and left on for 15 minutes then shampoo out with regular head and shoulders - works a treat every time - has happened to me a lot!

Washing up liquid will strip your hair quickly, you will need lots of conditioner for afterwards but it will definitely strip the majority of the colour out over a couple of washes

as advised wash it with head and shoulders or washing up liquid. Get in the shower and do it over and over again, literally 20+ times.
