Talk me through Nivea

I've been given 2 tins of Nivea (navy, flat, circular) tins. It smells lovely but I don't know what to do with it. It's really too heavy for my face, too greasy for hands, so what do we do with the stuff?!

Also, as an aside, I went and bought Boot's own Cold cream after reading a thread here Marketers dream and I've no idea what to do with it.

Use as a night cream?

geordiedench · 04/03/2017 15:33

The blue stuff smells lovely but it's one of their worst products imo. It's heavy and greasy. But if you use a tiny amount on hands, it will sink in. And it's great for feet if you are doing a pedicure, or for dry knees and elbows. Also OK for keeping neck and chest moisturised.

HappyFlappy · 04/03/2017 15:34

It's good for taking off make up (as is the cold cream)

CountClueless · 04/03/2017 15:35

I use it as a night cream when my face goes through its regular dry and dusty looking phase. It's fantastic, yes its very heavy but sometimes you need that, and the next morning skin looks plumper and much better.

WelshMoth · 04/03/2017 16:17

Ok - great. My face and neck also get those phases.

What about taking make up off?
And why is it called 'cold cream'?

I put it on as a moisturiser, but I have very dry skin. You can use it as hand cream too. My DH also uses it as an aftershave balm.

RedBugMug · 04/03/2017 17:38

I use it after gardening, because the hand scrubbing afterwards makes my skin prune.
under nose when having a cold (stops tissue chafing)
as night cream after a peel-off mask or intense scrub

olderthanyouthink · 04/03/2017 18:40

Ooh, I have some but don't use it much because its so thick and I hate applying it. I had the hands of a little old lady though so I might try its as had cream

GVmama · 04/03/2017 20:18

It is very thick, I use it on my nose if I've got a cold. Even my normal moisturizer stings when my skin is sore from wiping a runny nose, but this works really well. So glam Confused

CaraAspen · 04/03/2017 20:23

Lip balm.

spankhurst · 04/03/2017 20:44

It's excellent as a night cream. I have slightly greasy skin even at my advanced age (46) but a face slathered in Nivea once a week does wonders for general plumpiness.

Haffiana · 05/03/2017 15:24

Nivea Soft is my go-to cream for all bits of me! I find the normal Nivea a little too heavy.

BusterGonad · 05/03/2017 15:34

Nivea blue tub needs to be warmed up on the back or in your hands before applying. It's a great night cream.

whitesklyer · 05/03/2017 17:42

this ! going out tomorrow to buy it. Smile

AnarchyKitty · 05/03/2017 19:23

My Grandma used Nivea, my Mum uses Nivea, I use Nivea and my Daughter uses Nivea. It's a firm favourite in my family.😁

Gertiegoolash · 05/03/2017 19:39

I use it as a night cream or a face mask if skins feeling particularly shit, always sorts it out. Wouldn't wear under makeup though as far too heavy.
