Skincare for oily skin...help

I'm in my early 30s and my skin is oilier than ever! I have switched to double wear Foundation from bareminerals as the bareminerals was splitting on my face through a morning...but, even double wear isn't uneffected by the oil.

I went to look for skincare yesterday and bought boots No7 serum and mattifying moisturiser purely as I couldn't justify spending so much on Estée Lauder equivalent products and No7 was on 3 for 2.

I've been looking at various brands...Estée Lauder, la Roche posay, eucerin...and recently tried Liz Earle.....what I wonder is what products should I use and any brands anyone recommends?

Currently I use;
AM- Face wash, toner, pore serum and moisturiser
PM - cleanser (cream), toner, pore serum (yes to grapefruit) and moisturiser and eye cream.
WEEKLY - exfoliator scrub, glamglow mud (amazing btw)

I just want my skin to be clear of oil, blackheads and odd breakout if possible.

I have extremely oily skin, it also tends to be a bit dehydrated as well (i.e. Lacking moisture, not oil).
The basics of my skincare routine for daytime is as follows:

• Elemental Herbology Purify & soothe cleansing balm
• Paula's Choice 2% BHA lotion (great for blackheads and decongesting oily or blemish prone skin)
• Deciem NIOD Multi Molecular Hyaluronic Complex (light hydrating serum - or you could try The Ordinary hyaluronic acid serum if on a budget)
• Deciem Hylamide pore control serum (helps oiliness but isn't too mattifying)
• Alpha H Daily Essential Moisturiser SpF 50 (super lightweight, love this)

I think you can get pretty much all of the above online from Lookfantastic.

I should also add, no matter what skincare I use, I do need to blot. I buy Johnson and Johnson Clean and Clear oil blotting sheets off eBay, they are fabulous. I use a long wearing foundation and touch up by blotting and powdering throughout the day. That pretty much keeps my makeup in place for the day.

Chaby it's so frustrating isn't it? Feel I'm keeping Boots in business at the mo!

violetbunny thanks!! I read about the Paula's choice lotion this week and wondered about getting it...maybe next month! Is the moisturiser you use oil free? So you use a different one at night?

I like la roche posay efflacar, and second blotting sheets- I get through hundreds of them! I've just started using clarins lotus oil at night which I'm liking.

JoeMaplin i tried that last summer but it seemed to break me out. I definitely need to try the blotting sheets I think!

The Alpha H moisturiser is lightweight and non-greasy, which is a hard task for one with SPF50. I've been using Paula's Choice BHA for about 10 years and swear by it, I really notice my skin becomes more congested when I stop using it.

At night I use:

• Elemental Herbology cleansing balm
• Deciem NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum (for long term skin health)
• Once or twice weekly - Paula's Choice 4% BHA foam OR 10% AHA lotion (applied after the previous product has dried, otherwise they are not compatible)
• Deciem The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin serum with Hyaluronic acid
• Paula's Choice Moisture Boost hydrating treatment cream

The 4% BHA is just a stronger version of the 2% BHA so I use this 1-2 times per week to help with decongesting. The Paula's Choice 10% AHA is amazing, it's an exfoliant so I wake up with really clear, glowy skin when I use it. (Even DP borrows it regularly!). It's a a weekly treatment. Pixi Glow tonic is similar but not as concentrated. I never use physical scrubs as they're too harsh on the skin.

I use the Alpha Arbutin to address skin pigmentation, if you don't have this issue you could just use a hyaluronic or hydrating serum here.

The Paula's Choice moisturiser is hydrating without being too greasy, as night creams can often be. Any good moisturiser will work here though, it's the serums that do most of the work.

La Roche Posay efflacar gives me tiny cysts, really grim so I'm also looking for a decent moisturiser for oily skin. Most seem too heavy.

I found mine was always affected worse by the moisturiser I used. I now use this Avene one which is very light. I then use Smashbox primer and Smashbox Foundation...

I use:

• clarins foaming cleanser for oily/combination- love this and I used to use Liz Earle. I always use a flannel to remove and this gently exfoliates. - also lasts forever.
• Estée Lauder clear difference serum
• mac oil free lotion
• Estée Lauder double wear light or double wear foundation depending on where I'm going.

I've used the No7 pore serum and moisturiser this am and so far so good! I'd say I'm prett shine free....I'm wondering if my skincare has been why bareminerals stopped working for me. I actually just sold all my 2 unopened ones on ebay but still have one opened that I kept so may try it tomorrow!

I was the same until I made some changes to my skincare. I now use a body shop moisturiser for oily skin ( has seaweed and I buy a few at a time it's that good) during the day and use a primer before foundation. But my skin is now less oily since I stopped using cleansers with soap and started adding oil to my skin at night. It's settled it down and also remember no primer or oil free moisturiser will stop oil production all day. Lisa Eldridge says you're lucky with oily skin to get 3 hours oil free. I get way more now. I use bare minerals oil free primer at the moment and like it, I'd love a cheaper alternative but not found one yet. I also liked Estée Lauder primer for oily skin but again pricy. I also use blotting sheets, I get mine on Amazon their a dupe for some overpriced MAC ones I was using, I'll try to link. They are amazing. They are blue sheets from clean and clear, and I couldn't live without them in the summer.
