instablur by the bodyshop

Has anyone else tried this? I haven't come across anyone discussing it online, but I'm really surprised by it.

I usually buy Clinique, Clarins, etc, but had a bit of cash to spare so went to get some new makeup for a test run from the body shop. Decided upon the instablur cream (a sort of primer), the brightening CC cream and a little trial tube of instablur for the eye area.

I am quite pale, blue eyes/blond (age 43 decent skin) and have never had anything work so well as a base before (and I adore my clarins instant smooth). Especially the instablur for eye area - it seems to not only smooth the area in a dewy way but evens out my skin tone there - which is usually a mess with bluish dark circles and pink/redness.

The CC cream is also amazing, and works so perfectly before a bit of foundation (i only use a small amount/thin coverage), leaves such a healthy, dewy glow.

Has anyone else tried this stuff? Or even other great products that surprised you from the lower end of the price bracket?
I know the body shop isn't dirt cheap but it is still fairly bargainous compared to Chanel, Clarins, etc

Yes, I got some from tkmaxx half price so I was really surprised to see it was current in the body shop. I've not used it yet, but I'll maybe start tomorrow.

I have! I don't really like the texture of it (it's rather silicony) but it's a good high street primer!

I agree, the texture is odd, but when it is on my face it goes away, iyswim? The final 'feel' of it on my skin is almost like I'm not even wearing anything, which is a bonus!

I forgot to mention, the eye instablur has a touch of colour to it, which blends in beautifully and evens out the tone of the eye area.

At least for me (and i have always had issues finding the right skincare) it really does have the effect of a beautifying iphone app!

If anyone has found anything similar, or which works even better for a pale skin eye area do share.
I have always wanted to try out chanel primer/foundation but not took the plunge yet.

I hated this primer with a passion!
It dried out my oily, yet dehydrated skin terribly. Made it tight, and looked drier than the Sahara desert.
My foundation applied terribly, and looked dry and flat. Far too expensive for a frankly crap product!

Ooh! Sorry to hear that, and I agree, it is still too expensive when it turns out not to work :(
Had the opposite effect on me though. It's difficult to recommend skin care because we are all so wildly different!

I generally judge a product's success on whether or not it brings me out in pimples or blotches. If it doesn't, I'm satisfied.

I've just got the Chanel primer. It's very white in bottle and straight on skin but works on my high colouring well. I pat it on and let it absorb for a bit. It also leaves my skin feeling nicer than any serums or moisturisers do. I use it beneath foundation. Makes my eyes run though so I use a concealer round them instead.

Also didn't get on with insta blur. Seems like loads is required to get coverage and then it makes skin tight like Beautifully. That's the transparent all over one though, haven't tried the eye one OP.

Which Chanel foundation do you mean? The Aqua one?

Blanc de Chanel and then Acqualumiere.

Blanc also makes my eyes run. I use it as a highlighter now on my cheekbones. It was agony on my face!!

I really like the body shop drops of youth peel. I was very sceptical at first but it genuinely does remove your dead skin. It worked wonders on my hands too!

I tried that in the shop, MinnieF1, but I was in London and flying back with hand luggage do I couldn't buy it. I'd forgotten about it till you mentioned it. How often do you use it? I tried it on my hand in the shop and I was really impressed with the gunk that came off!

Avoid the peel! It got stuck in the facial hairs round my jawline as I massaged it on my face. Wouldn't come off with a flannel etc, I had to literally comb the bastards out with a fine tooth comb

If it is a silicone based primer, it will need to be worn with a silicone based foundation, not a water based foundation. The two aren't compatible.

The bottle recommends using it 2-3 times a week. However when I first bought it I went a bit mad and used it everyday for a few days To be fair though, it didn't cause any problems for me! It got rid of all of my flaky skin and helped to clear up my spots and clogged pores.

Am using the CC cream (bodyshop), the one in pink tube mostly now. Only requires a small dab and covers well. This actually gives more of a blur effect, really evening out and smoothing my skin nicely, more so than the actual 'instablur'.

Am pleased with it because my skin has reacted well to it and no spots so far! Am also using the liquid foundation in palest shade, only a very small amount of coverage but perfect for me. Quite happy!
