Help me choose some new make up!

I'll be 36 very soon and my make up is running out - foundation and eyeliner both just about gone. So I'd like to treat myself to some decent make up for my birthday.

I'm very pale skinned, prone to the odd zit (yes in my mid 30s -sob), and prefer a 'natural look' ie I tend to apply it in about 90 seconds in the morning while rushing around doing everything else on a morning! No time or inclination for contouring and all that malarkey. I also would prefer something not tested on animals and using as many natural ingredients as possible. Oh and not too extortionately expensive, I'm only a part time admin monkey!

Can anyone help?

Foundation- Urban Decay naked skin, does not test on animals, a lot of vegan ingredients. I love that one, I use it daily. Quite light to medium coverage, suitable for daily use

Blusher- dandelion by benefit as you say you have fair skin. This is a beautiful, very light pink-ish

Mascara- i would go for any drugstore black mascara, not too excited about mascaras

Lips- max factor do great lip glosses which are natural and subtle

Foundation & blusher are a bit on the expensive side but they're quality and they last you ages :)

It sounds like you've got the same skin as me. I love ysl touché rocket foundation which looks and feels like you've got no make up on but have amazing skin. For blusher, I also like dandelion by benefit and dior's healthy glow is gorgeous. Don't be put off by it looking neon pink in the pan.

bourjois does a good foundation - think it's the healthy mix one. I think Bourjois is great quality for the price. For eyeliner, Avon does some brilliant ones - glimmersticks - which are v cheap. I'd check out Avon generally as they've really raised their game and price-wise are excellent.

Ha ha yes maybe not ysl/dior- I'm not sure of their vivisection policies either, but I'm sure they are lovely! Urban decay sounds like a good idea - bought some base stuff for my wedding ages ago so might go back and have a look.

I still have some benefit bronzer (gives me some colour!) and blusher (rarely use that) - anything else of theirs worth a look? Only need the basics really as I just won't use it. Urban decay/benefit are the sort of price range I am looking at.

If you use concealer, I swear by the Urban Decay one, also if you use eyeshadow, their primer potion is fabulous (i used to work for UD while I was in uni lol)

Ysl foundation is the approximately the same price as urban decay. I'm not sure why is was just me being criticised.

I couldn't get back on mumsnet to say Debenhams has an offer on their make up so that touché delay foundation is cheaper than the urdan decay one. I'm not loaded but I spend on things that are worth the tenner.

Anyway, I agree Avon are great for eyeshadows and liners although I found their mascara flaked on me.

I'm afraid Benefit aren't cruelty free :(
I have found a gorgeous mineral foundation by a company called Inika though. All research suggests they are completely cruelty free, no shipping to China and no nasty stuff. It's the best happy foundation I have tried, and available at some shops in London, but I have to get mine online. Check out lovelula.com it's a site that only sells happy skin, hair and make up products.

I prefer cruelty free.

Eyeliner: Kat Von d tattoo liner

Mascara: too faced better than sex

Lipstick: any Charlotte Tilbury or Kat von d one is great

Sorry purple, I wasn't singling you out - I've never bought any urban decay so no idea how expensive it is. Charlotte tilabury is another I would classify as pricey... The lipsticks are £24 and foundation £30!!! Lovely but expensive.

Been out all day so just getting caught up. I'm surprised that ysl is similar price to urban decay, I've never really looked at it (ysl) tbh.
