Using majirel to lighten dark blonde hair - help!

DD wants some kind of balayage style in her dark blonde hair. She's probably a 7 base colour. In the summer she gets natural highlights from the sun.

I used majirel to dye my own but my base colour is a 5 so I just dye it the same colour to get rid of the grey.

The blurb on the packet says it can lighten up to three shades. Does that mean I use it still with a 20% volume developer?

She's got brown eyes so I was thinking of a beige or golden blonde.

Anything else I need to know before I don the plastic gloves?

i work with Inoa but 20 vol will lift up to 2 levels and cover grey. 30 vol up to 3 levels. Did you buy another shade?

If you're only hoping to lift to a level 9 on virgin hair and happy to have a warmer tone- 20 vol will do. That's if she definitely isn't darker than a base 7.

I don't really want to buy a litre of 30 volume.
Will I need to use a toner too?

Don't use any higher if you dont have too. You can buy 100ml bottles from hair from Sally's. It's what I use

You generally only tone when using pre lightener. 20vol and a level 9 shade will give you a very subtle sun kissed shade with a balayage technique.

Right I'm going to go for a 9.0 as I think that will look good with her skin tone. (she's a pale olive - tans quickly in the summer but pale for the rest of the year round). My other choice was a 9.3 but I think that might be too golden for her especially in the spring time.

It depends on your daughters hair and how it takes to the peroxide.

Go for 30vol, it might go lighter than intended though due to the lift in maji

I use the Majicontrast Rouge and my hair is a little Lighter and 20vol turns it bright red. If I used 30 vol I'd glow in the dark

No just the regular majirel.

The difference is, majicontrast is a colorant specifically for dark bases for high impact intense results. It is formulated differently to a regular L'Oréal shade. So 30vol with a level 9 could never look bright exactly but obviously it's best not to use a higher peroxide than required.

So should I stick with the 20 vol?

If she was my client I'd be using 30 vol to guarantee lift. If you use 20vol and it's barely noticeable, you will need bleach to re-lift. I'd stay away from the 9.3 as it will deposit a lot of warmth and can sometimes look brassy.
