Next - just dreadful this season?

I know its been going down hill in terms of quality and a lot of the designs in recent years have been poor but I popped into a local branch - fairly big one at a retail park at the weekend for a look.

Being late 40s I don't often find that much there but work suits, jeans, shoes/boots are ok and I can usually get a couple of tops/knitwear.

This season though is just hellish or is it me? Flowers over everything, big bell sleeves, nasty patterns combined with some really cheap material. I walked out buying nothing. Not one thing did I think oh that might go with this that or the other or I like those shoes/boots top.

Anyone else? I think its giving M&S a run for its money in terms of horror clothing!

I like Next for jeans and a few basics. I also pick up odd bits in their online clearance section because the reductions are good. Don't like much else of what's in store though - poor quality not reflected by the prices and some really ugly 'trying to be trendy' stuff.

It's one of those shops I might walk into when desperate. I usually take three paces in, realise it's all shite and swerve straight back out. More of a Whistles, ASOS, Other Stories, Top Shop and Zara shopper. Aged 45.

I find you have to go at the right time. Traditionally I've got my best summer stuff in March and the best winter stuff in September. If you miss that slim window though, the new arrivals are usually hideous not to my taste. I still find on the whole that Next are better quality than other High street shops nearby.

I agree. I went in this week looking for workwear and it was just awful. Everything too short, tight, patterned or just tacky in general. It used to be my staple for clothes but it hasn't been for a while. I can't think of the last time I bought something there (apart from the home section).
