Hello ladies
Are there any other ladies out there suffering from hair loss?

I would love to make contact with other ladies suffering in a similar way maybe we can offer each other support / advice or tips / keep each other sane?

I have been diagnosed with Androgenic alopecia, female pattern baldness. I am in my early 40s. I have a receding hair line and bald batches, extreamly thin on top.

Biggest fear = ending up with the same hair style as Phil Mitchell

Anyway ladies if you fancy a chat about this please contact

Hi there,

I've been experiencing hair shedding for over a year now and it got worse in the last six months before taking iron tablets. It makes me feel really crap about the way I look and I know that it's only hair but it affects my confidence.

My biggest fear was realised in a bad dream the other night, I had brushed my hair and thick clumps of it came out and resulted in my having half my hair missing.

Glad that you've started a support thread.

Thank you for responding. I hope any other sufferers join in

I have had this slow process for years and it really can be soul destroying - as to us ladies, hair = a huge thing

I wear hats most of the time now. I am lucky I can do this at work and I do appreciate that

I have tried regaine, from the chemist. I tried this for 18 months and got no success at all - although I know it does work for some people

The GP and NHS have not offered anything other than thyroid testing and I was referred to a skin specialist who told me I have androgenic alopecia - I already knew that though, the signs were all there. There are no health reasons why

One thing I am looking into at the minute is birth control pills - as some of them have anti androgens - which do something to the DHT in your hair follicles. I am going to ask my doctor to swap me, but the ones I believe are anti androgen are the combined pill (currently on the mini pop pill) and I am not sure cos of my age if they will swap me.

This is a bit quiet, seriously is no one suffering?

Not me, but a friend has androgenic alopecia and she now gets a weave from a place called lucinda Ellery in London. They specialise in weaves for women with hairloss and are very sensitive to the condition.
