What to do with barely used, but unwanted, make up products?

I've been sorting my cosmetics out and have loads of unwanted items that have only been used a couple of times at most.

Would charity shops take things like blusher, foundation etc ? I'm guessing eye and lip products will just have to be thrown away which is fine, but it would be a shame to just bin other products. I CBA trying to sell anything.

You can give them to DV refuges as women often turn up with nothing. I've sent stuff to them before.

I've just had a quick tot up of the blushers, all of which I've used less than 3 times each. Laura Mercier, MAC and Urban Decay and I reckon they cost me about £250 all together. I was so reluctant to just throw them away.

That s great, nice to know they will be going somewhere where they will be really appreciated!

My local DV place won't accept anything that's already been opened which is s shame as I have loads of expensive make-up that has only been used once or twice and I'd be loathe to throw away. It's a shame that it's just sitting in drawer gathering dust.

So that should be ok? When I sent stuff to the Xmas appeal they were ok with slightly used products.

I used to freecycle it once I got a decent amount together, these days DD has nabbed it before I've even realised it's surplus to my needs

would you really want to use someone else's discarded make up, who you didn't know? I can just about imagine it with nail polish but nothing else. Try giving it to a friend who is in a position to judge your hygiene standards!

How do you think the testers in the shops work? How many women have tried that lipstick or eye shadow or moisturiser in the display?

Shalli - I'm talking about blushers, eyeshadows, Chanel loose powder (wrong shade for me so only used once), Wunder brow (used once as looks ridiculous on me).

I wouldn't donate lipgloss, mascara or eyeliner as I'd be squeamish about using those myself if second hand but using the above products second hand barely used wouldn't bother me.

I'll go against the grain. Sell them on eBay. Minimal use. My stuff has always sold. Not for huge amounts I will add but all sold.

You could try selling it on Depop. I've sold quite a few slightly used eyeshadow palettes on that app, after I went through a mad phase of thinking I needed every single one I saw. Used makeup surprisingly sells really well on there.

Friends/office colleagues/refuge

We've done creams/perfumes/blushes etc in the office - it's a good way to try new things without costing a fortune for something that may not work out

I've posted this sort of stuff for free on local fb pages and been inundated with requests for it.
