Help me with holiday glamour

I'm off to a luxury destination where I know the other guests will be well dressed. Not in a flash way but in a Melissa Osdabash casual but stylish beach chic style.
My Boden tankini and M&S kaftan with old Havianas will not make me feel comfortable.
I have some very lovely sunglasses but apart from that I'm stumped. Any ideas, particularly for evenings?

Maxi dresses are your friend.
With strappy straps or bandeau, gladiator sandals & a clutch. Understated glamour. Enjoy!

Sea Folly swimwear is gorgeous, great quality, flattering and lasts years. The UK website Coco Bay www.cocobay.co.uk usually have beautiful swim, beach and holiday wear.

Before our last holiday, which was the sort of place where dressing for dinner was expected, I bought some chiffon and silk evening dresses from China as a trial, they were fantastic, really beautiful quality and excellent fit, I had so many compliments from strangers. They were so cheap too, even with import taxes.

I used to work for a vair posh hotel chain where we got a lot of incredibly good discounts on holidays and so were basically hobnobbing with the great and the good. The understanding was that we wouldn't let the side down, so to speak.
That meant basically channelling your inner Liz Hurley. White jeans, floaty tops, heels, jewelled sandals (never flip flops!!) plain rather than patterned swimsuit/bikini ( too easy to spot an M&S print) maxi dresses, oversized clutch/ oversized sunglasses. Fake tan before you go. Mani/pedi.
I used to ( and still do) get a load of semi-designer stuff in sales/Brandalley and keep some of it specifically for pool/cruise holidays.

We stayed in a couple of fairly upmarket hotels recently and found that people just don't dress up any more. I felt overdressed a couple of times.

Maybe it is only in the really expensive, luxury hotels that people still bother?

I've noticed the same Iam, I can do dressed up to the nines or gardening in the summer clothes, it's the casual beach chic I struggle with. The Aspiga and Cocoabay links might nail it.

Good advice for. lady You need good sunglasses, hair and eyebrows recently done and get or have your nails done.

Make up is hard, I wear lasting lasting sun cream and then, when it has dried, I use a light application of max factor facefinity to tone down imperfections. I only wearit on holiday, it is really easy to touch up because it is in compact form.

Yes, it was a step too far for me, but I've noticed that waterproof mascara, lipgloss, cream blushers and lots of dry oil gets used poolside by high end ladies.
They are also unafraid to wear jewellery with swimsuits as if just about to start shooting a Vogue spread for Asprey.
I think less people care these days - I have seen people being remarkably casual on lots of expensive holidays. I think there is a distinction though between high end package holidays, which can be pricy but where people tend to be v casual, and the sort of hotels that are almost exclusively full of monied types where 'dressing down' may be shorts and a polo shirt but they will be immaculately tailored and pressed shorts and polo shirt.
