Gap sizing

I'm just about to order some skinny trousers & jeans recommended by some MNetters.
But I'm wondering how the sizes are compared to other places.
At next I'm an 8 but Topshop I'm a 10.

Just trying to limit the potential returns :)

I've found the jeans generous - had to size down as they are quite stretchy but love them, perfect fit with no waist gap.
The trousers I've tried have been pretty true to size.

The jeans sizes are all over the place. In most shops I'm a 12 in jeans so I usually get a 10 UK/6 US in Gap. A couple of weeks ago I thought I'd bought two pairs of 8s/4s because I've lost a bit of weight. Tried them both on in the shop and they were fine, realized after wearing one pair for an evening that it was actually a US 8- so a U.K. 12. They're virtually the same.

The sizing is random but generally I size down.

Bansteadmum · 24/02/2017 20:54

Random but generally generous.

Large! Vanity sizing generally!

carabos · 24/02/2017 21:00

Huge. Go down two sizes.

Tubbyinthehottub · 24/02/2017 21:07

Enormous

Generous! I wear 8R in GAP jeans (US/Canada size) when I'm a 10 in every other brand. (I'd probably be a sz14 back in the UK.)
