How can I get 'glowy' skin please??

Pleasehelp11 · 24/02/2017 13:15

I have combination skin. Dark circles under my eyes (permanent) have quite a bit of stress going on. Not a good combination.

I get spots so I'm currently using avene skin care range. I exfoliate a couple of times a week. I am currently using the nip and fab pads. Wear make up every day, using Mac foundation and concealer.

I always look tired, worn down etc. My skin never looks flawless and lovely despite make up. I drink plenty of water and have a good diet.

Please does anyone have any tips or any wonder products??

Pixi glow tonic

Also ditch studio fix (and Mac altogether for foundation) and get either nars sheer glow or too Faced born this way foundation. Amazing coverage glowy foundations

LoupGarou · 24/02/2017 16:33

Clarins Beauty Flash is a cream, you put it on immediately before foundation/bb cream and then quickly apply foundation over the top whilst the cream is still wet. I also sometimes apply a fine layer over the top of makeup. It is expensive but lasts ages, and I'm sure there are dupes of it out there.

I don't find the NYX concealer sits in lines, and it covers my very dark circles very well without looking like its caked on.

YY to green tea, revolting stuff but I make myself drink at least three cups per day and it does make a difference.

LoupGarou · 24/02/2017 16:35

Sorry to derail for a second but @Auspiciouspanda is Pixi glow tonic as good as its cracked up to be then? I've been reading reviews and pondering it for a while. Does it make a big difference?

MakeLemonade · 24/02/2017 16:37

Friend been raving about glow by the beauty chef, I've not tried it myself yet but seems to be pretty well reviewed.

CobsAhoy · 24/02/2017 16:40

Hot cloth cleansing and products with glycolox acid made the biggest difference to my skin, and mac strobe cream for faking it!

mowglik · 24/02/2017 16:53

Agree mac strobe is a great choice for a more natural glow than most highlighters. Use it mixed with foundation or dabbed onto cheekbones and other high points after foundation

I've also been using a beauty blender (the real techniques one) and I find applying my foundation damp and then using cream blusher on top with the same sponge really looks quite glowy and v. Natural

Pleasehelp11 · 24/02/2017 16:58

Aren't they the nip and fab pads the gylocix acid thingy? I'm sure that's why I started using them as they were recommended on here to get your skin nice?

Ok will try to get to Mac to look at the strobe....

Eugh ok maybe I could force 3 cups of green tea down if it's going to benefit my skin!! How long would that take to make a difference if it was going to work so you think?

I admit sugar is not my friend... I'm trying hard but still at some point each day I'll be reaching for a bit of cake or chocolate.... perhaps I need to look at that. I don't have loads and loads. I cook all our meals so no hidden sugar in them but piece of cake/chocolate isn't going to help....

I have skin like this and tend to find that heavy foundations (meaning ones like studio fix with good coverage 😞) make my skin look sallow and dull.
I switched to laura mercier tinted moisturiser, with a good concealer for the areas where I need high coverage, has improved things no end. I add highlighter to the bits that need it and a translucent powder to my t zone. Works wonders. Now I am used to it I never wear foundation.
In terms of skin care I use dermalogica special cleansing gel, followed by a serum and dermalogica active moist.

LoupGarou · 24/02/2017 17:08

I notice green tea starting to make a difference in about three days, makes my skin seem firmer all over. It does have to be string though, no showing the teabag to the water Grin

LoupGarou · 24/02/2017 17:08

Strong, not string!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 24/02/2017 17:11

I really don't like green tea.

The things we do out of vanity.

Jecan · 24/02/2017 17:12

An oil cleanser washed off with a hot cloth has made a huge difference to my skin

DameXanaduBramble · 24/02/2017 17:15

A matcha latte would be far nicer, I have mine with almond milk, whizzed up to make it frothy.

AYankinSpanx · 24/02/2017 17:40

I exfoliate very gently with used coffee grounds (sometimes mixed with cleansing balm) every three days. It makes an incredible difference to my skin.

I use Dr Hauchka Rose Day Cream which makes my skin really glowy - I Can tell a real difference if I use something else.

tobee · 24/02/2017 17:50

I (sometimes) take green tea in tablet form. Is that as good?
Also the Laura Mercier illuminating moisturiser, just googled it and the US site came up. It listed 4 shades. Then I went to John Lewis site but no shades listed, just the one product, bottle looked the same. Is this right?

Pleasehelp11 · 24/02/2017 17:50

Hmmmm coffee you say?

Have you thought about trying a cc cream rather than a foundation - maybe give your skin a bit of a break?

Pleasehelp11 · 24/02/2017 17:59

Iv tried bb creams and the coverage is far too faint . what's the difference to a cc cream?

You should try some of the Skin 79 ones from Korea. Those have serious coverage and are very skin friendly as the Koreans take their skin very seriously. I think the Orange one is for oily skins bit that might be too matte I dunno. I used the Gold one which is for drier skins and the finish was beautiful.

You can get reviews of them online. You get them on eBay. Not expensive.

ElspethFlashman · 24/02/2017 19:20

Meant to say, Korean ones are BB creams. But there's a big difference between Eastern ones (which are amazing and seek to improve skin like a treatment) and Western ones (just tinted moisturiser)

toffeeboffin · 24/02/2017 19:22

Low carb, loads of almonds, salmon, spinach, lots of coffee and fake tan.

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 24/02/2017 19:57

ChickenVindaloo2 · 24/02/2017 20:06

I take green tea capsules with water instead of drinking the tea. The tea turns your teeth brown! (Have you ever seen those Chinese doctors - brown teeth!)

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 24/02/2017 20:18

spinach and beetroot as well as water and no sugar
