I'm going back to wearing glasses after many years as contacts no longer suit me unfortunately. Thing is I'm really short-sighted so glasses make my eyes look tiny and piggy and I feel really self-conscious.

I've splashed out on the nicest glasses I can although a lot of trendier frames weren't suitable for my stupid milk bottle lenses Confused. I've also paid extra to have them thinned but doubt it will make a massive difference.

Is there anything I can do to either make my eyes look better or distract from them? I know I can't expect miracles but any ideas would be welcome :).

I echo what Floisme says about earrings. They just don't work for me with specs. My colleague manages it and always looks great though. So I guess it depends on the individual.

No earrings with specs is just what works for me. I have a small face and I don't like to have too many things fighting for attention. It wasn't intended as a universal style rule - I don't believe in them Smile

Op I really can empathise. I have terrible eyesight and as soon as I could I started wearing contact lenses. I have always felt so self conscious about my glasses and the way they make me look especially as without glasses my eyes are really big and one of my better features. I do wear contact lenses still but my eyes have been getting dry of late and my optician said I need to wear glasses more so I'll be following this thread for tips too!

I did always find that really neat eyebrows made my glasses look better.

Also my dh always says to me (and I don't think he is just being nice as he is a very honest person!!) that I look good in my glasses and I'm actually the only person who really noticed the lense thickness / small eye thing. I get cross when he says it because he doesn't know how it feels with his 20 20 vision BUT he does have a point. When I see other people in glasses I never notice how thick their lenses are and I always think how nice glasses look - I think we always notice it more on ourselves.

I wear earrings with glasses but overly fussy ones. I'm short sighted but my frames are light and lens thinned out. I wear eye make up, top liner, eyeshadow and mascara.

I mean not overly etc

foxes you really sound as though you know where I'm coming from! I'm sure other people don't notice as much as we do but it's horrible if you're self conscious about something isn't it. Oh well, maybe my glasses will draw attention away from my many other flawsGrin.

I've got one of those magnifying mirrors with a light round it - that helps a lot when I'm putting on make up! You can buy electric ones from Boots for about £30, or there's a battery operated one in Ikea that's only £8, and works pretty well.

Actually I have got one of those and it does help, guess I just need a bit more practice!
