Can anyone recommend black jeans that keep their colour? Failing that what are your tips for keeping the colour in your denim? I like my jeans as black as my soul Wink

I don''t think black jeans that stand up to washing once a week (or once every couple of weeks if only worn at weekends!) exist, sadly. I'm currently wearing some from Joules which are v black, but I've only washed them three times so far, so not sure how they'll hold up.

The M&S Autograph ones showed early promise but turned out to not last more than a couple of months before fading horribly.

Primark and M&S 5 pocket ones both fade as soon as you look at them.

I got a pair of new look superskinny jeans about 2 years ago and they haven't faded.

stationtostation · 23/02/2017 18:14

The best way I've found is to dye them with dylon in the machine when they fade. The dylon stays black for ages. Longer than any black jeans that I've bought.

marmiteloversunite · 23/02/2017 18:24

You can get washing liquid for black coloured clothes. No idea if they work though. I just dye with Dylan if they get too faded and are still worth wearing.

needmoregin · 23/02/2017 18:37

I just dye all my black jeans every now and again with the Dylon black machine dye .

neveradullmoment99 · 23/02/2017 18:46

I have next skinny jeans in black. Think they are the legging type jeans and they have stayed a true black. I bought them a while back now and have been washed over and over again and are still as black as when i bought them!

neveradullmoment99 · 23/02/2017 18:47

Mind you, i dont wear them every day. They are the legging type but look like ordinary jeans with zips and pockets.

Fuzzypeggy · 23/02/2017 20:00

Dying them. Every so often I put all my black cotton things in the wash with black dye. Brings them up nice and black and they stay black for an awful lot longer

skinnyamericano · 23/02/2017 20:01

I just don't wash mine very often!

carabos · 23/02/2017 20:01

I do the dyeing thing too. Brings faded blacks right up to scratch.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 23/02/2017 21:09

3 pairs of River island Amelie superskinny have stayedblack for at least 5 months ( so far) used in constant rotation. But yeah, what pps said about Dylon.

YumLemonCheesecake · 23/02/2017 21:12

Another nod to the New Look super skinny jeans, they do go baggy at the knees though.

My Lee jeans are on their 6th wash now and still very black.

EggsEleven · 23/02/2017 22:48

River Island and Zara black jeans have always stayed true black for me despite frequent washing.

Topshop and Sainsbury's Tu black jeans are terrible at retaining their colour imo.

VanessaBet · 23/02/2017 22:50

I've also got skinny River Island ones that have stood up really well to washing. Must have had them at least a year and if they've faded at all then it's uniformly so doesn't show

JazzFunk · 23/02/2017 23:37

I've had some Sainsburys Tu black skinnies for about a year & they're still jet black. They were called jeans but they have a velvety finish, so that may have something to do with it.
