Had anyone successfully got rid of eyelid milia?

I developed an unknown entity on my lower right eyelid approximately a millennia ago- google tells me it is a 'milia.' I was all for live and let live as it was teeny and didn't hurt and, let's be honest here, I'm quite the slattern!

Unfortunately, not only has the fucker grown but it has BROUGHT ALONG A FUCKING FRIEND! A teeny tiny little friend. I think milia one is hoping I won't notice milia two and soon I will be nothing but milia.

So, has anyone managed to get rid of these bastards themselves? I'm loathe to go to the gp unecessarily as they are effectively doing no harm but boy are they annoying to look at!

I have a phobia of anything which goes underneath the skin. So I can't use any hotter-than-the-sun sterilised sharp things to pop the fuckers. Mores the damn pity.

This is not a DIY job. Really, you should see a derm but failing that, a beautician who does 'extractions'.

Eek, an extraction! That sounds dreamy, Silently, but seriously thank you- I think I am kind of relieved I don't have to do it myself! I will look for an extractions beautician in my area. (I did not know these people existed!)

I clearly remember my mum having a few around her eyes. This was About 20 years ago though. She asked the pharmacist and she gave her aqueous cream and told her to rub it in a few times a day.

Remarkably they did go. I suspect it was as much the rubbing in of the area that helped. You need to get the little layer of skin on the top off for the milia to come out.

So maybe try a warm flannel on the area followed by rubbing in aqueous cream. That may create enough friction to release it.

I sometimes get them, not around eyes, but perform DIY surgery.

See a dermatologist- had mine sorted last year and it didn't hurt at all

Dd had one which I removed with a sterile needle and the promise of chocolate!

Doesn't pop like a spot so you need to remove top layer of skin and lever it out.

Look up Dr pimple popper for inspiration. Or don't if you're really squeamish!!

They don't pop like spots! If you leave them they'll work their way out and you can remove them yourself by "rolling" them off with your finger. Painless and leaves no mark.

Do you use a heavy eye cream or moisturiser? If so, switch to something lighter or use much less product around the eyes - it'll be that that's causing them.

Thanks all- I'm not particularly squeamish but I do have that ridiculous phobia so I don't think I'll be able to DIY (or M!) it.

I'm going to look into a dermatologist today. And I'll switch my moisturiser too, good call thank you!

What are these things? Is this eyelid sporn?

I get rid myself. I break the skin then use an extraction tool.

Have you had your cholesterol checked? Milia are often indicative of high levels, which may need checking out.

Mine just disappeared one day, if that gives you any hope.

I break the top layer of skin with a needle (put needle in sideways don't poke it directly into your eyelid, so it threads through the millia, then pull to break the skin. Doesn't hurt or bleed) and then gently squeeze the millia until it just pops out. It doesn't leave a mark.

Oh god DD has had one for 7 YEARS and she won't let me touch it

I get mine removed at a local training college. L3 beauty students need to remove them as part of their qualification.

Give them a ring, i get mine done free as not many people have them so they are really struggling to get people in. I had 4 removed last year and 3 the previous year. Its just like squeezing a stubborn spot with no head.

I have t had my cholesterol checked ever but I suspect it will be high tbh. I will pop it on my to-do list thank you!

My GP got rid of mine with a needle. Went in for something else, asked about it. He said that it was easy to get rid of and to come back for another appointment. I must have looked like I wasn't going to because before I knew it he asked to have a closer look and as soon as a closed my eyelid he scratched the top off with a needle and flicked it out.

Milia and the high cholesterol milia look totally different op. Beauty therapist here.

Do you wear eye shadow? A lot of the time you can get acne cosmetica usually upper cheeks (blusher) and eyelids (shadow)

Get them removed properly. Beauty therapists love, love, love removing them.

I get loads of these and just wait for them to work their way to the surface and get rid of them.

Attempts to speed up the process has always resulted in horrible red marks which are far worse than the lumps themselves.

I poke mine with a pin, wait a few days until it drys out and then it picks off like a scab! Nice!

My milia is down to dry skin and heavy moisturiser. Rather have milia and smooth skin than rough fkaky skin!

Mine was due to using normal facial moisturizer around my eyes and not eye cream. Nothing to do with cholesterol as I've only just recently been tested. I currently have 2 near my eyes but haven't been bothered to sort them out as they are near my eyelids! painful!

I do use heavy moisturiser and don't use a separate eye cream (I know, I know, but I did already admit to being a slattern )

My milia are bright white and milia one is about 2mm in diameter with baby milia two coming in at about .75mm. I'm quietly hoping they're just because I've got very dry skin and use heavy moisturiser (thinking that will help the very dry skin) rather than the cholesterol but I guess I should get that checked too!

choca I don't wear eyeshadow at all (nor blusher tbf) but knowing that a beauty therapist won't run a mile and daub a cross on my gate after being exposed to my lower lid acne I will enquire as to removal asap!
