I quite like it. I think had she worn a generic strappy silver or blue dress, then she wouldn't carry it off as well as some of the others.

No. It's not good (polite).

There are lots of ways of looking different and not generic without looking terrible. Agree with the pp that said Christmas wrapping paper. No.

It's not good. The proportions are all wrong. She looks dumpy thanks to a combination of the dress being too long, the stripes being to wide and the fabrics bring too random. It gives the appearance of a very long body and very very short legs.

I don't think Edith is a beauty and her hair was rats-taily, true. I think I love the dress for its strange likeness to a suit of armour (don't ask me why I see a battle dress!) I love hotch-potch patchwork-style fabrics, too, and I admire bravery in dressing. It's true, though, that one has to be wary of the dress wearing the owner.

I much prefer this sort of thing to those wide apart chest straps that are slashed to the waist revealing fried-egg white breastS. There was a lot of that going on at the BAFTAS.

I've just been flicking through the rest of the slides and my god how can so many people with so much money to spend on costumes get it so wrong?

Do none of these people have stylists? 😮

It's mad that thin, attractive people with stylists, money or loans of designer stuff so often choose such bad dresses!

Genuinely can't understand why you're all so outraged. It's just women wearing clothes. You may not like the clothes or the women but seriously.
