Are pashminas horribly unfashionable?

I've got a posh party next weekend. Got a dress but it isn't warm enough to wear by itself. It doesn't really work with a jacket and been struggling to find a bolero style cardi to wear that works with the top of the dress. I've got a pashmina that would work colour wise, but I have no idea if these are fashionable or acceptable anymore!
Any opinions?

I think wearing one regularly is not fashionable , but for the occasional evening event it's fine.

I've a beautiful silk cashmere one in slate grey that I use on holidays in th evening, on chilly planes and would use it if required to an evening event. It doesn't make an appearance otherwise.

I don't think they're fashionable but they have their place for weddings and evening do's as a cover up. Practical rather than fashionable. Agree with a PP that they are better than bolero jackets or cardigans.

Do you have a link to your dress OP? If you aren't sure on the pashmina then someone might be able to suggest an alternative from the style of your dress.

I have a drawerful of large scarves in different materials, colours and patterns, from velvet to chiffon, to cover all times of year and activities, from walking the dog to posh parties. I have bought them at intervals over a long time. They come and go but good quality accessories should never be thrown out you will want it again the month after

Agree, not one of the 10 euro acrylic airline blankets...

I'd agree on if you're going to wear one make it a good one, beautiful high quality material makes all the difference. You get some cheap crap pashminas out there. You can generally tell as well as they are dull in texture with no sheen to them.

Alternatively go for something like chiffon or organza but make sure it's not too bulky and also it stays up and doesn't keep sliding off. 😱

I think a jacket can look better than a pashmina. But it has to be the right jacket.

I love that pic. She radiates happiness and looks so carefree...wish all wedding photos looked so joyful!

The blazer I have is not dissimilar to the attached, and it's surprisingly versatile.
