I'm a huge of nork (HH's!) short (5ft 2") apple shaped (worst feature is my 16ish waist, have no bum/hips)
I've seen this skirt in Sainsbury's (and with 25% this wk) and can't work out whether it would look fab or awful/what on earth I would wear with it.. any advice oh wise ladies/chaps?!

I tried something similar on today. It looked great on the hanger but I didnt buy it because it didnt do my tummy any favours. Based on that I'd say try it on but don't get your hopes up.

Archedbrowse · 17/02/2017 22:48

I got something similar, looks the same but silver, this week from a charity shop for £3.

I'm not apple shape, but I am short (5'3) and the length made it look like a little old lady skirt on me; it looked so frumpy not all what I was envisioning.
I've reluctantly concluded this style suits the tall and willowy best. If I'd got it from a real shop it'd be going straight back(and I would have tried it on before buying anyway, should have done this time really!)

I'm apple shape and this style makes me look like a mountain!!

TSSDNCOP · 17/02/2017 22:52

No

Brontebiscuits · 17/02/2017 22:53

I'm an apple. I would say no. And no again.

Notagain2017 · 17/02/2017 22:55

I am a pear and I bought a gorgeous one (well it was on the model) and I looked huge.

AmberNectarine · 17/02/2017 22:59

Probably not, I think. To look anything but frumpy, so need to show your waist. I am an hourglass size 8 and while I have and wear a couple, they're definitely not my most flattering garments.

ShoutOutToMyEx · 17/02/2017 23:01

I'm an apple - size 10 and 5'10 but still an apple - and they don't look right on me at all.

elephantoverthehill · 17/02/2017 23:06

DD beanpole yes, I have bought her a similar style dress for her Bday. Me, apple too, no way.

empirerecordsrocked · 17/02/2017 23:09

I bought one and wanted to love it but no!

SwedishEdith · 17/02/2017 23:11

I'm an apple and, no, not good. They need a flat stomach.

Judydreamsofhorses · 17/02/2017 23:12

I think these skirts only work with a small waist/flat tummy, and something either tucked in or slightly cropped on top.

Loftyjen · 17/02/2017 23:26

Thank you all - think I knew before posting but wanted to confirm there wasn't a magical get out clause 😆

Really annoying as the material felt gorgeous - so soft and heavy!

I know what you mean about the drape, so I suppose you could wear it with a long tunic type top......possibly?

FookyNell · 18/02/2017 00:00

Step away from the pretty skirt. Pleats are only friends to twigs.

Us apples have very few friends outside of maternity wear...

chanie44 · 18/02/2017 08:10

I tried one on a few years ago. The combination of being short and having s tummy meant it looked horrendous.

user1477282676 · 18/02/2017 08:11

As others have said, nope. The only people who can get away with that is those who are over 5.8 and very slim.
