Turkey? Kas or Kalkan . Guaranteed heat, lovely swimming, amazing food, lots of Lykian history, Xanthos& Tlos. Kekova (sunken city + crusader castle & one of my fave places of all ). Patara has an amazing beach + another great ancient city. Also very cheap. I'm off there again in June.

Anxiety feeling a bit better so venturing on to the internet again a bit. Had a lovely few days in France with PFGD but she gave me the wretched noro virus & I am still not quite right two weeks on. But I have lost half a stone.

Sorry to hear about the loss of all those cats - so sad when they die.

Cremolafoam · 23/02/2017 17:26

Wooooooo, CV👻
In Doris news , we have had four seasons in one day and have had horizontal sleet followed by sunshine so intense it is blinding, and now the trees are whipped up and dancing alarmingly.
Beachy, hilarious re sparrow hawk. Hear hear to Solo travel. I am endlessly doing itineraries >currently exploring western Sweden by train. in my head I like the Croatian -Venice tie on , but sadly it can be s l o w and long routed by land or sea. Best to fly or hire a car. For MI

hattymattie · 23/02/2017 17:29

Hello Magi, welcome back. I have always wanted to go to those places. Maybe next year, I've heard about the sunken city and it sounds amazing. Not sure how Turkey's panning out tourist wise at the moment, I loved it when I visited and would like to go back.

MI - I went to Venice about 3 years ago with DH. It is lovely but very crowded and full of souvenir shops. It felt practically like DisneyVenice.

Cremolafoam · 23/02/2017 17:29

Oh MM sorry you have been unwell too. Welcome back with hugs 🤗

wordassociationfootball · 23/02/2017 17:31

Correction: head bang IS her biggest problem. In critical condition, serious head injury. Had horribly grown up conversations with neurologist AND critical care consultant, without sis. All rather surreal wondering why they wouldn't rather talk to a grown up. Cancelled friend. Want to see my girl.

Beachy, I loved everything about your post of 16.19.

Rosebag · 23/02/2017 17:36

Auriga that migraine sounds horrible. I do hope you're coming out of it now. And you too MM...hope you are fully rid of the lurgy soon.

CV I have to admit that back in the day when I had a department to run
yes really friends did apply sometimes. I had to make it very clear at interview that this really wouldn't be a problem if they accepted that sometimes I would need to pull rank and when that happened they would need to say "yes, Ma'am" Grin If they didn't like it, they didn't pursue the matter.

I wonder how MrsS is getting on in Forrin? Living it up if FB is to be believed.

I have felt distinctly under the weather today. I had a very strange night of thinking I wasn't sleeping but being aware of vivid dreams and feeling rough. I was relieved that just as I was texting my client to postpone, they texted me to say a tree was down locally and the roads were grid locked so not to attempt the drive. I then came over all funny in the afternoon so cancelled a mani/pedi and slumped in front of Netflix with a hot water bottle. Watched 50 Shades. Really dunno what all the fuss was about...it wasn't particularly graphic....

I'm due away tomorrow, to take care of my friend who has suffered a recent and devastating tragedy. I'm worried I'm not going to be well enough... Hmm

motherinferior · 23/02/2017 17:36

Oh fuck WAF. I can find neurology contacts in an emergency too.

Yep, what I really want is to travel ALONE or perhaps in the company of a nice Crepey friend.

Rosebag · 23/02/2017 17:37

WAF Oh no... {{{{{{ }}}}} and thinking of you. x

Cremolafoam · 23/02/2017 17:39

Oh Waf😿

magimedi · 23/02/2017 17:42

So sorry, WAF.

Blackduck · 23/02/2017 17:48

wAF :(. Fingers crossed.

Here we too have had all four seasons. Have repaired guttering and put cover back on garden table. Off out to dinner in a bit - I know on a school night too, but it's a one off menu so can't do it another night.

Childcare not too bad Monty - sharing it with dp...

hattymattie · 23/02/2017 17:52

WAF - so sorry this has happened. Life is so fragile.

Rose - hope you get a good night's sleep for tomorrow.

herbaceous · 23/02/2017 18:14

Thinking of you WAF. I dread to think how I'd feel in that circumstance - also waiting for a grown up to come and sort it out, I'd imagine.

In exciting Varifocal News, I have just ordered two pairs of varifocals from Asda, one a pair of sunglasses, for...

... drum roll...

£119.

If I can't get on with them, I haven't wasted too much money. And they'll change them after 28 days anyway! Can't believe the bargainaciousness.

Lalsy · 23/02/2017 18:16

Oh WAF Sad.

addle · 23/02/2017 18:40

Oh waf, I'm so sorry. Thinking of you x

IDismyname · 23/02/2017 18:44

Oh Dear WAF - hang in there.

Pull up your big girls pants, take a deep breath and stay calm.

(Easier said than done, I know...)

NUFC69 · 23/02/2017 18:57

I hope Crem and Auriga are over their bouts of sickness, and that you have come to term with the cataracts now, Crem? Being the age I am it's been quite a common operation amongst friends and acquaintances. I have the start of them, but they haven't developed any further so I am back on two yearly optician appointments.

WAF, so sorry to hear about DM - take care and don't beat yourself up.

Cloud, your DS (and his friends) are being wonderful - no surprise he wants a little time off.
*
MI*, how are you coping now? I like to think of all our kitties playing together in a rodent filled heaven. I am sorry you are still fighting about a holiday.

CV, weather sounds awful where you are. Here we have lost felt off the shed roof, and DS has had part of a tree blown off in his front garden (he, of course, is in Gran Canaria with his family).

We have had a lovely, if tiring, Half Term. We had the DGC on Tuesday and had a wonderful time at Alnwick Gardens- it wasn't terribly busy and they had a great time haring around. Yesterday we went to Cragside and then to a shop so DGS could choose his own birthday present - a suitcase, of all things. He was delighted because it had four wheels and five pockets! I am now on my knees.

NUFC69 · 23/02/2017 19:04

Sorry, I started my post before I cooked dinner so I didn't see your update, WAF. That's so awful, just hang on in there and know we will be thinking about you.

Herbs, I, too, have Asda glasses - varifocals, reactalite, coatings, etc., for the princely sum of £119. Really can't fault them.

Rose, sorry you are feeling rough; you must take care of yourself.

Lalsy · 23/02/2017 19:15

Magi, your poor thing with the dread virus but glad you are feeling less anxious.

Rose, hope you feel better tomorrow.

Stropperella · 23/02/2017 19:47

Oh dammit, WAF. Sorry to hear your update. Sending my very best wishes. xxx
On a very different note, I actually did a loud snortle (snort x chuckle) earlier when I read "the Stroppinator". :)

Hey MM

Migraine sounds awful, Auriga. How is your back? Has the epidural been useful?

Monty, it's a very kind thought, but the Crepeys probably can't come to me - unless they fancy a w/e away in the West Country and hire a bus. Grin I hope to be available for coming to the Big City again by the end of term, or thereabouts.

I am just back after a visit to the hairdresser. You will all, I am sure, be pleased to know that I now look marginally less like Ken Dodd than I did. I am off for the evening dog walk now, before getting my stuff together for tomorrow. Have to leave at an unwholesomely early hour to drive to Bath. I hope Doris's tree mess will have been cleared up by tomorrow.

I have had a very interesting day at my "other" school. But I am feeling a bit drained.

Stropperella · 23/02/2017 19:52

ps: Herbs, if you are seriously thinking about sending ds to a cathedral school as a chorister, then be prepared to spend A LOT of time at the w/e in church. And Christmas is v taxing, I believe. My df was head chorister at St Pauls (although practically back in the Dark Ages), and I looked into sending ds to choir school about 5 years ago, but decided that it was all going to be too onerous, particular for a religion-lite family like ours.

Stropperella · 23/02/2017 20:05

Rose, sorry you're feeling under the weather. Hope you feel better soon.

bigTillyMint · 23/02/2017 20:23

WAF, so sorry to hear that - thinking of youFlowers

Herbs, I will be coming to you for Asda varifocal advice in the not too distant future!

Good to see you MM - glad you are feeling marginally better.

Glad you had a good half-term NU although I have rather negative memories of Cragside as a child Grin

Stropps, how tickled I am that you're no longer looking like a loo brushGrin

Stropperella · 23/02/2017 21:04
Grin
Auriga · 23/02/2017 21:06

Very sorry, WAF, wishing you strength.

I'm much better, though still in my jammies. Relieved it wasn't Noro (glad you are recovering, MM). Was horribly reminiscent of being pregnant, though. How did I ever stand it for months on end?

Rose, get well soon too Flowers

Cocoa I am truly dreading the day when DD has problems I can't kiss better. It must be so painful for you as well Flowers

Stropps, I was told that it may get worse first. True, as it turned out.
