jeans - best style for size 18 forty something

I have some straight leg jeans and some wide legged. I have been looking online and most people seem to wear skinny jeans or jeggings. Would these look ridiculous on me? also what kind of shoes or boots would you wear with these? I currently mainly wear dresses but would like to get a more casual outfit for weekends.

I wouldn't have thought a straight or slim bootcut style would be flattering.

I'm a 16 and I wear slim jeans from next and monsoon. So not skin tight basically.

Skinnies and jeggings give me parsnip legs.

I wear size 18 jeans and am over 40. I wear skinnies/jeggings with longer tops but with shorter tops, I wear straight legs - either girlfriend cut or slim boyfriend which seem to be the same thing essentially.

I wouldn't touch boot cuts, flares or wide legs with a barge pole as they make my legs look really wide all the way down and I've spent too many years in boot cuts already!
