I got this last weekend and got about 6 compliments on it in work the day I wore it. It's a lovely shape on.

I got a beautiful hooded dressing gown just before Christmas (much like another pp above). It's soft and warm (without being overly so). I am getting into my pyjamas earlier in the evening as it's so comfortable (although I did draw the line at getting ready for bed at 5.30pm one day last weekGrin)

I also picked up some lovely bras and knickers in the sale after Christmas.

chosenone · 12/02/2017 08:26

I bought this for work as cheap and cheerful springwear. I have had so many compliments

Their 6 hats red wine. Pretty much anything in the 'Rosie' range in natural fabrics (cashmere/silk). Rosie perfume. Quite a lot of their toddler clothes. Some nice Chelsea boots but a bit too horsey without being sturdy enough to actually be horsey which is a pity. Their 'posh' profiteroles to die for (though possibly gone now Christmas is over). Their advent calendar was awesome. Cheap cashmere (especially in the sale). Fantastic toddler gloves that are crocodile shape (thumb in one half of mouth/fingers in other), which my toddler will actually keep on for more than 5 minutes. A shame about the rest of their stuff really; so much nylon/polyester.

Floisme · 12/02/2017 09:43

I agree with a lot of what misiabella says (although I have bought cashmere in Sainsbury's - it's just that it was shite). I've been known to stick the boot into M&S myself, particularly over the Alexa Chung debacle and the stock in my local branch is pitiful. But I can always find things I like on their website, although it's painfully slow.

These are a few of the things I posted on a recent thread - to a very muted response it has to be said. I've not seen any of them in real life.
Humphrey Bogart trenchcoat Probably too long for me but I can't stop thinking about it.
Swishy midi skirt Less keen on the red and blue but love the black and gold.
Slouchy grey cashmere V-neck I'm trying to wean myself off high street cashmere but Autograph aren't helping me at all - there's loads that I like.

Laiste · 12/02/2017 10:02

Whyyyyyyy do all the fitted dresses have these very high, round bloody necks though?

Babymamamama · 12/02/2017 10:05

The only thing I actually make a b line to m and s for is the berries and cherries cereal. It's the only one dd likes and she will not accept any other eg special k as a substitute. Ive no idea why. The business seems totally lost to me apart from food which is lovely but pricey.

BreatheDeep · 12/02/2017 10:22

misiabella Yes that dress has frills and frills are in fashion but those frills are not. M&S get it so wrong. Same with the flare sleeve. I think they should avoid trends because they never seem to get them right.

Kennington · 12/02/2017 10:29

All their boots are cool and comfy, and loafers.
Cropped slim cotton trousers are fantastic.
Their make up and hair care.
Cashmere.
Silk underwear.
Pyjamas

Hoppinggreen · 12/02/2017 10:43

I like their Autograph nail varnishes.
Also bought some black leather slip on trainers the other day which my 12 year old fashionista says are " not bad"

HateSummer · 12/02/2017 10:45

Ds and dd's school trousers and shorts and shirts. My body shaping pants. Dc's pyjamas. My spotty mugs and wire rack. Sorry their clothes are horrendous.

absolutelynotfabulous · 12/02/2017 10:49

I've got a pair of burgundy ankle biker boots. They've got zips and laces and were only £35. I haven't been out of them since I bought them.

Can't recommend highly enough.

Parker231 · 12/02/2017 10:51

Their PJ's are lovely but struggle to think positively about anything else. I use to buy their plain tshirts but the quality is poor now and they don't hold their shape. The rest of the clothes - I don't know what planet their designers are on ! They think they are producing fashion clothes but are missing by a mile. Often buy food there but it's becoming a it boring as the choices are quite limited.

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 12/02/2017 11:04

Yeah but

Cheese scones from the bakery section

JohnCheese · 12/02/2017 11:33

Saw this the other day. Looked nice but I didn't try on.

barefoofdoctor · 12/02/2017 11:38

Love the shirt LaCerbiatta hadn't seen this so thanks for the tip. More natural fibres and less ruffles please M&S.

MumBod · 12/02/2017 13:31

I love that trench coat, but it's a bit too brown.

There's so often a 'but'.

Agreed about the high round neckline too.

Intrigued by the Rosie love. Will look tomorrow...

Floisme · 12/02/2017 13:55

I think the brown would suit me Mumbod and it's been hard to get hold of since grey took over the world. But it's probably too long. Autograph do this one which might be similar in a most unpractical 'stone' colour but also khaki - minus ruffles!

GertyTheGert · 12/02/2017 15:25

I once saw something nice in M&S, I bought it, highly praised it on their website, said get more in, in other colours/patterns, this is fab - so did all the other reviewers. Never seen again. M&S don't care a toss - I agree with one reviewer on the slagging off M&S thread - its like they WANT to fail and go "food only". Not bought anything since. Why DOES someone want a Praise M&S thread??! Its highly suspicious Mrs M&S Buyer?!

GertyTheGert · 12/02/2017 15:52

-2- Is it me - all the M&S clothes here on this thread (put as a link) and which have comments such as this is nice/this isn't bad - I dont just NOT like them, I hate them! The navy long sleeved top with the back split and the odd shoulder embroidery which looks as though the gal is wearing a backpack??? Or the top with the fluted sleeve which flares out so that its about 18" wide at the wrist?? Really??? I've just come home with a lovely grey n black tunic top, 3/4 sleeves, very, very gentle flare to just above the knees (ie flattering style). I asked my OH what he thought - he said its "beautiful" (yep, grey n black!). I then broke the news it was EIGHT POUNDS in Asda! Now as other folk say, it ISNT the £8, its the style/shape/colour n pattern combo which makes it attractive. SO if M&S made more tunic style tops (folk can wear them as a dress with thick black tights, or over trousers, or over leggings, or over jeans/jeggings) then they would be onto a winner! (As an aside, when I was in Asda & holding it up to look in the mirror to see how it looked, two women walking past said oh I like that - one was about 50 and the other was about 20 (daughter?) - ages/comments speak for themselves. Three different ages group, same opinion!

Floisme · 12/02/2017 15:52

Well I didn't start the thread but I want to praise them sometimes, if only as a reaction to all the bashing ones - even though I sometimes join in Grin

As I've said, I agree the stores are shite but I always see stuff on their website that I'd happily buy. I also cannot believe the praise that gets lavished on some other brands (yes Hush, you for starters) where the prices are way higher than M&S and the quality much worse.

Floisme · 12/02/2017 15:55

And I never buy tunics, either as tops or as dresses. They turn my thighs into tree trunks.

LiefieLiefie · 12/02/2017 16:11

I agree with Flo, I think M&S have some absolute gems. It's all about how you style them. I've been looking for work dresses for ages, from the likes of Hobbs down to H&M. Managed to find perfect ones in M&S for under £20.

I'd be gutted if they made more tunics. I think that they are one of the most unflattering, frumpy items of clothing ever made.

Floisme · 12/02/2017 16:19

Mind you I think Gerty makes a good point that M&S have lost a lot of custom to supermarket clothing brands.

Greenglassteacup · 12/02/2017 16:31

I like their opaque tights
Rose bubble bath
Plain cotton bikini knickers
Lace trimmed slips & underskirts
Fondant fancies
Giant chocolate buttons
Vests & knickers for children
School uniform
