This looks lovely online (haven't seen it in real life)

Sammysquiz · 11/02/2017 19:13

I've got this dressing-gown, and it's brilliant. I've got the longer-length one, and it reaches my ankles. First winter that I've actually been warm in the evenings, it's like wearing a massive furry blanket. Rosie H-W makes it look pretty sexy in those pics, but it isn't when I wear it - in fact it's the least sexy item of clothing I've ever worn and makes me look ginormous, but who cares, I'm toasty warm!

Iamtheresurrection · 11/02/2017 19:17

Two weeks ago I seen a black jersey midi skirt with side split. It's now sold out in store and nowhere to be seen online. So the moral of that is buy anything decent immediately.

Lunaballoon · 11/02/2017 19:31

I guess as a 50-something woman, I should be one of their core customer base, but there's literally nothing for me in M&S, apart from food. There's a big branch close to my work, where I sometimes pop in for a browse but their outsize/fussy/bizarre styling just does nothing for me!

herecomesthsun · 11/02/2017 20:02

I also have Sammy's dressing gown. I got it because I had to get up early to sort out some medical treatment first thing in the morning for a few weeks, and we live in a cold house in the country. It is lush!

MrsHughesCarson · 11/02/2017 20:16

That dressing gown looks lovely , but I can't see the point of putting hoods on them. Do anyone actually put the hood up ?

Sammysquiz · 11/02/2017 20:22

I admit I don't wear the hood very often - only when I want to look like a furry monk Smile

Love a military bandstand jacket but this may look bobbins in the flesh

That's a nice jacket!

I like that military jacket I'm almost tempted to go into the city and look.

pale pink ballet flats, leather, £25.

BabyHamster · 11/02/2017 21:56

zxyzoey I saw the "contrasting edge skater dress" in the shop and it looked lovely. Not impressed at all by the pictures on the website but it's much nicer in real life.

Thingsthatmakeugoummmm · 11/02/2017 22:12

Am buying these tomorrow

Babyhamster - I have got it and I will cut the buttons of the shoulder as they are a bit too much for me. It is too big in the bust for me but so are all dresses and the waist and bottom half are very flattering for my pear shape.

BWatchWatcher · 11/02/2017 22:24

I agree the buttons need to go from the contrasting edge dress, but it looks lovely!

LiefieLiefie · 11/02/2017 22:34

I picked up a couple of the colour block tunic dresses for work. Great for under £20. Again, they look better in real life than on the model.

misiabella · 12/02/2017 00:03

I actually like M&S and I feel like it has been made a scapegoat here. There was frilly dress that everyone laughed at - frills are still in fashion and very similar dress is on ASOS. Embroidery on t-shirts is very Gucci. I feel that M&S makes trends approachable and there is still good choice of basics. I'm sick of hearing how M&S should be like Cos or Hush - all to their own, but for me they are incredibly boring, boxy and grey (and expensive). I'm 37 - I'm not totally quirky and into trends, but I'm also not into oversized shapeless clothes, just because they are supposed to look 'posh'. M&S is starting to fill that gap for me. Their skinny jeans are great - i have got three pairs. This January I bought a dress, 4 blouses and some nice underwear Grin
The other thing that I do not get here are the complaints about fabrics, love for natural fabrics, cashmere etc. and after all that talk, someone says how fantastic Sainsbury's clothes are and everyone cheers. Yes they are decent, but you won't find cashmere there Hmm And the last thing: a few ladies were complaining that almost all M&S dresses have got some sort of sleeve - I remember the days when Mumsnet begged M&S to introduce more sleeves. Confused

Rant over Smile

I preferred last season collection but I'm eying up some things that are in stores now:
simple black dress
denim dress
sort of denim dress
lace dress
long shirt
flowery shirt
cotton shirt
flowery blouse with statement sleeves

EggsEleven · 12/02/2017 00:06

I like the jumper dress that BWatch posted.

ellaballoo · 12/02/2017 04:45

I have the dressing gown too , it's fabulous and makes me feel like a Jedi .

Fozzleyplum · 12/02/2017 06:13

The 5 pocket jeggings are brilliant. They're cheap, and are an excellent fit.

MidnightHag · 12/02/2017 07:54

Love these pyjamas, soft but oddly smart for lounging. Navy not pink.

herecomesthsun · 12/02/2017 08:01

re jedi dressing gowns, DS has this and these
