Anyone remember my thread about whether to buy a Babyliss Curl Secret?

Well DH got me one for my birthday. It is going to take me a bit of practice with the sectioning, I have thick shoulder length very straight hair but this is my first attempt if anyone is wondering what the results are on a normal plain person.

Probably wondering what the hell "plain" means. That got my back up.

Nemesia · 10/02/2017 20:05

Is this the gadget that sort of sucks your hair in and spits out curls?

fivefoottwowitheyesofblue · 10/02/2017 20:09

Thanks for the update. Is it easy to use. I couldn't get on at all with the other babyliss thing that people raved about (big brush that blows out hot air) so am reluctant to throw more money at something that may not work!

SorrelSoup · 10/02/2017 20:12

Looks lovely. How much is it?

Maudlinmaud · 10/02/2017 20:12

I don't remember op, but I want one. I have the babyliss big hair and raved about, I've had maybe 4 or 5 at this stage. But it was pulling my hair out and I had to retire it.

I want one of these now. Your curls look lovely.

LynetteScavo · 10/02/2017 20:14

I've got one and I love it. It does take time, though. Straightening is so much quickerGrin

AliceInHinterland · 10/02/2017 20:15

It looks lovely. You have great hair - not so plain!

NomDePlumeReloaded · 10/02/2017 20:15

Your hair looks great bejazzled

AllTheBabies · 10/02/2017 20:21

How long does it take?

Bejazzled · 10/02/2017 21:05

Thanks for the kind comments. It took me about 45 minutes unfortunately. Because the sections have to be accurate 3 cm or you risk a tangle. I'll probably do it for the weekend as won't have time in the morning before work. Hoping to get quicker at it with practice though.

I still have a full head of curls, they haven't dropped.

P.s our local Costco had them for £60ish but they sold out really quickly.

Maudlinmaud · 10/02/2017 21:30

I have really fine hair so it would probably take a lot less time for me. I'm sold! Grin

wherethewildthingis · 10/02/2017 22:01

If it gives you hope - I've got quicker with mine and can now do my whole head - hair v similar to yours - in less than 30mins. And i always get compliments when i have done it!

imsoexcited0000 · 10/02/2017 22:12

I like it but I get a heart-stop moment everytime it sucks my hair in. I can't get to grips with how to do the back of my head, had to get dh to do Blush. I have babyliss big hair as well which I love!

burnishedsilver · 10/02/2017 22:43

I cant get it to do big curls like that. It takes me an age to do my whole head and the result is more like this.

What setting do you use burnished ? Although those spiral curls are lovely

OP posts:
burnishedsilver · 12/02/2017 00:13

It doesn't seem to matter what setting I use. The curls don't last as long on the lower setting but they're the same type of curl as on the higher setting - spiral with flat roots. Am I doing something wrong?

YouHadMeAtCake · 12/02/2017 00:16

Looks lovely OP! Really pretty.

Doesn't take a lot to get your back up obviously vivienne

WhooooAmI24601 · 12/02/2017 10:02

I hate mine and have given up on it completely because the curls just drop out within an hour and I look like a Bee Gee instead of Gisele.

Love the results you got though, it looks lovely.

Liiinoo · 12/02/2017 10:04

I have one too. I don't use it all the time as it does take a while but for special occasions or bad hair days it is great.

LittleOyster · 12/02/2017 12:49

Your curls look lovely, OP. I want!

Scabetty · 12/02/2017 16:08

Bought one at christmas. Love it but takes time.

cansu · 12/02/2017 16:19

Bought one for 25.00 on ebay. Love it. It is hard to do back but rests look great if messy. I have thick shoulder length hair and curl or waves seem to last for a few days.

Bejazzled · 12/02/2017 18:10

Well, here is what it look like after a busy weekend I haven't washed it yet. The sides are still nice but the back has gone flat and messy where I sleep on it.
