Would you wear that and where?

I got a new Joe Browns catalogue today and was expecting to hate everything (i get the catalogue because i once bought a skirt but in general don't like the stuff)

Anyway I actually liked couple of items but suspect that it's not something I would actually wear. (In fear of looking ridiculous)

Just for info I'm 33 and size 8-10.

So the question is would you wear these and if so where to and how old are you??
Thanks!!

Forgot to add i was picturing the while set - white shirt, waistcoat and jacket with dark blue skinny jeans and brown dubarry boots that I don't own

I'm strangely drawn to Joe Browns stuff (i too get a catalogue) but have only ever bought 2 of their more boring summer skirts and i think that was through Next.

I think most of it is aimed at 20 something or aging hippies Grin

Laiste · 30/01/2017 16:20

Next online i meant to say.

carrie74 · 30/01/2017 16:23

It's very much a country riding set look, which wouldn't look out of place in my area, but I think I'd expect it on someone a little older than you?

ShimmeringIce · 30/01/2017 16:42

The waistcoat is unremarkable in a nice way. The jacket I imagine being worn by a tastefully spray-tanned blonde with designer accessories Grin

JournosAreLazy · 30/01/2017 16:44

It's like an outfit from a Jilly Cooper novel.

ChristmasEvePJs · 30/01/2017 16:47

I am a similar age to you and feel far too young for both of those. My grandmother has a similar jacket from Ness and she is in her late 80's.

BumWad · 30/01/2017 16:49

I am 34 and would not wear any of those items.

Floisme · 30/01/2017 16:49

They've stopped sending me the catalogue so I guess they don't think it's for my age group - and I'm smack out of the aging hippy generation.

I actually think a well fitting tweed jacket is a thing of great beauty. But I'd go for the real thing not polyester shit.

dontpullyourbrotherswilly · 30/01/2017 17:46

I guess that's a no then

I sometimes like stuff that i think looks great in my head in some dreamworld (or perhaps in Sophie Kinsella novel which i never read but have heard of though my friend who reads crap like that)
Glad you brought me back to earth

The jacket is almost Vividnne Westwood, almost but not quite. I'd just go straight for the VW option if I was looking for clothes like this.

Floisme · 30/01/2017 18:22

Or you can get real Harris Tweed in vintage shops for about a tenner: much nicer quality and colours.

nannyplumislostinspace · 30/01/2017 18:28

I was expecting them to be absolutely hideous but the waistcoat is actually really nice.

Bloggybollocks · 30/01/2017 18:31

I'd wear both if I were a. the star of a porn film where I'd be engaging in rough stable sex with a sexy groom or b. A spray tanned, botoxed to the eyeballs, wife of a used car salesman residing in Essex.....

dontpullyourbrotherswilly · 30/01/2017 19:31

Bloggy
I've really got it wrong haven't IBlush

I've got a tweed jacket from Boden which I love because it's good quality British tweed and it's a petite so fits me perfectly. If you like the look of Tweed jackets they are in the sale here for a similar price to that Joe Browns one.

GVmama · 31/01/2017 13:21

I have a few tweed blazers, one Boden and one Hobbs and I can't remember where the third one is from, I love them.

As you said I wear them with a shirt and dark navy jeans, and knee high boots. I'm 37, size 10/12 and would wear them anywhere, school run, lunch with friends, even on a walk in the summer. I have worn them in the winter with a fitted jumper, skirt and heels too.

We are pretty rural and live on a farm, so tweed is totally acceptable, essential almost!

BusterGonad · 31/01/2017 13:54

I wouldn't wear them, as it reminds me of the Sloan Ranger look as Trinny and Susannah kindly put it!

BusterGonad · 31/01/2017 13:56

Sloane Rangers I mean!

RebelandaStunner · 31/01/2017 19:16

I like the pink jacket. I would wear it on a date with Mads Mickelson dressed as Hannibal. We would clash nicely.

RoganJosh · 31/01/2017 19:18

I think the jacket would just look good with jeans. I'd just wear it instead of any other blazer. Ditto the waistcoat. I like them both.

UnicornButtplug · 31/01/2017 19:23

I like the jacket would wear it with a plain dress for work or with jeans and a plain t-shirt at the weekend.

Disclaimer, I am not trendy at all.

Deathraystare · 04/02/2017 09:42

Waistcoat no. It looks too "stiff"

The jacket possibly but not that pink colour.

Generally I like the stuff.

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 04/02/2017 10:57

That check will only work if the jacked is well fitted, as it's from Joe Brown, it won't be and the pockets are so wrong.
