Funky flat shoes which aren't brogues

Because brogues highlight my truckers cankles like you wouldn't believe.

Now I've pretty much finished losing weight I'm revamping my look. I've realised a skirt just above the knee is a good look for me as I'm short and curvy but need a flatish shoe as have a bad knee. Think slightly preppy.

Brogues should be perfect but I've tried loads and they just aren't. V unflattering. I have really odd shaped feet - massively high arches, wide and short. I hate shoe shopping and can't ever quite get it right then my whole outfit flops Sad

Any ideas?

Russell and Bromley Chester loafers are lovely.

Some fab ideas thank you. Shoe assembly had some amazing green lace ups which I was v tempted by and may come back to. Also some interesting loafers in clarks so will head for a trying in session I think
