Cream buttons on a black wool coat?

I have a broken button on my coat and was going to hand it in to get the buttons replaced but remembered I had some cream buttons with a whirly pattern.

They're the same size as the coat buttons but would they look daft on a black coat?

Kind of depends on the coat. It might work on a short, pea type coat..one that was 60's in its sillouhette but it would not work on a more classic cut.

It's kind of like this, but slightly more feminine uk.burberry.com/long-cotton-gabardine-car-coat-p39428511/zoom/1?gclid=COXE2oW55tECFYWRGwodrL4A5A&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CLCAiIa55tECFUSkUQodMNgPKg .

I don't think so then. It will look odd OP.

I think it depends on your style and why you're doing it - if you have a slightly quirky twist to your normal dress then go for it, but if you're doing it just because you can't be bothered to find any black buttons, maybe notSmile

I like the buttons but the swirls look brown so I don't think they would look right on a black coat.
I do like a contrast button and have put new buttons on a couple of cheap jackets and coats

I think I'll just hand it in to an alterations place and get the broken button replaced.

Wasn't convinced it would look right. I've had the coat for 15 years, it's in pretty good good nick considering.
