Just heard Sali Hughes talking about it on You and Yours (radio4) and being pretty complimentary (except yada yada about packaging and how every girl loves a name and poncy box to cover her back with Big Makeup Co).

They make top quality make up in the same factories as Big Name make up, and quote the amount spent on packaging, product and testing. Its a membership scheme.

I've just paid £10 for a month's membership and bought primer, foundation, mascara and lipstick for £18 all in.

Let's see....

Only thing is I don't buy makeup that often so wouldn't stay a member....

She was talking about this in the Guardian at the weekend too, wonder if she's on commission. Thats a great deal though, I'd be interested to know what you think of the stuff you've ordered when it arrives.

I am not sold on this idea at all - the concept of cheaper products is obviously appealing, but not being able to test them is definitely not. The idea of having to pay a subscription to access it turns me off too, although I appreciate that's where they make the ££.

I think for me the main problem is that (for now at least) there is such a limited range of stock. I can imagine that a month in I'd have bought all I wanted to buy and would be hunting around for something to buy to justify the subscription. Sali Hughes made that point too. Might possibly be worth waiting a while to see if it really takes off and the product list expands.

They're adding 276 new items this year. They've already added three new things in the last week with three more to be added in the next few days.

The old "made in the same factory as " line really bugs me. Just because it's made in the same factory doesn't mean it's produced to the same technical specifications or quality. In fact some businesses I've worked in have had factories that produce things that are of markedly different quality. (Sorry, just wanted to rant as it always annoys me!)
