Help me create a capsule wardrobe for work please!

Am trying to get my work wardrobe more streamlined to help be more organised- so have thought a capsule wardrobe best place to start. List so far: -shift dress- cigarette trousers- pencil skirt- chiffony type blouse. But am stuck at what else to go for. Rather skint at moment so going to trawl ebay. Thinking of brands like Lk bennet, Hobbs etc. any advice or suggestions re other items/brands gratefully received!

Age, shape, clue to job?
Skirt length and shape prefered?
What height shoes do you like.
If you want to look great, it has to be personal.

Late 20s, NHS non clinician but patient contact, Apple shaped size 8 and 5'1". I do like a heel, but can't get away with more than 2" really. Skirt length is one thing I struggle with as I feel the skirts ive seen are either über short or make me look dumpy!

Hush have a sensible length skirt left in the sale. Black and a bit different but still basic. Get 2 or 3 tops for each bottom half and make sure everything sort of co-ordinates.
