What face products do you use, I want to switch from Clinique?

My skin has really changed since I had babies and clinique doesn't seem to be doing the job anymore. I've got combination skin but quite dry on my cheeks. Used the clinique turnaround cream and it stings!
What do you use?
I'm 31 and feel I need a night cream or something to stop the lines before they start.

I'm using dermalogica and Eve Lom at the moment. I would like to try Liz Earle and Clarins though.

3andnomore · 24/02/2007 20:06

not being funny...but does it really make any difference? I know I sound right weird...but..is it?
Will/Could I actually do harm to my "ageing" skin (am 36 now) by using cheapo Asda Emoilient cream (reason I use emoilient is that I have tendency to eczema)...I used to use Eucerin dry skin relief 5%Urea cream , when I still got my stuff on prescription, and that is excellent stuff...but like 4£ more (to buy in the pharmacy, compared to Asda emoilient crteam, lol and seeing that my Eczema is o.k. right now, don't see the need to buy that, iykwm...
ANyway....are expensive facecream really doing anyhting to stop the ageing process????
That Oil of Uley ad...where she says you probbaly expect to pay celebrity prices but it retails at only £20...dh and I both tend to go , gasp and wtf...lol...

citylover · 24/02/2007 21:22

clarins for me

avon eye stuff

i think you can buy decleor from qvc, gf

reiver · 24/02/2007 22:20

Liz Earle for me too - the trial packs are a good idea if you haven't used it before.
Followed by Laura Mercier Tinted moisturizer by day. Is it enough to rely on the SPF in that do you think or should I be using something else too all year round?

bumperlicious · 24/02/2007 22:31

I'm a Neal's Yard girl. Their Frankincense moisturiser gets rave reviews. I don't use it myself as it's not right for my skin, but I use heaps of their products.

poptot · 24/02/2007 22:49

I use dior to cleanse and moisturise, the hydration spray is fantastic, still looking for a fab eye gel though, find the creams are too heavy. I've got combination skin too.

simplycontrolfreaky · 24/02/2007 22:52

roc eye cream is expensive but really good. (see below)

Lio · 24/02/2007 22:55

I'm with you, 3andnomore. Well I would be if I washed my face, if you see what I mean. Have a sneaky feeling the 79p stuff might me not-much-worse thatn the £79 stuff.

3andnomore · 24/02/2007 23:49

So you think there is hope ;) orry, can't be serious right now....but have been in discussions about facial skin care wiht my sister who spends lots of money on it, and she looks brill, but she is the pretty one anyway...so...that is not a factor for me to go by, lol...I wash or use cleansing wipes and then cream...tis what I do...if this would be bad...you'd think I know by now (considering my age, lol)...hohum...eh...another question why is all teh expensive stuff so highly allergenic...my sis also offered me to try her products, and effing hell did I break out, lol....but then, I just break out in a rash just entering london full stop...

NorksBride · 24/02/2007 23:59

Estee Lauder Daywear Plus and Triple Cream at night. They're very good at the dry bits without leaving the normal/oily bits all greasy. I love them. I would commit crimes for them.

sauce · 25/02/2007 13:52

I'm 44 (gasp) & look younger than my mate of 32. She rides every day & doesn't use sun screen. I think the most important things are: 1. sunscreen (sunblock), 2. keeping skin clean & hydrated, 3. drinking lots of water & eating properly, 4. getting enough sleep. Also smoking is very aging. The creams are secondary - they all do basically the same thing (moisturise) & you go with whatever scent, packaging, price appeals to you. There aren't any miracle products, tbh, except botox & surgery.

paulaplumpbottom · 25/02/2007 14:38

Dermologica's active moist would probably be good for day and Guerlian's Midnight secret for night.

ManchesterMum · 25/02/2007 17:26

sauce - I trust you're 32yo friend either doesn't use MN or most certainly does not know your MN id...

ManchesterMum · 25/02/2007 17:28

You're? Lasting posting should have said "your"

foxybrown · 25/02/2007 17:31

clarins is my fav. they should put a sample of Beauty Flash Balm in Bounty Bags!

3andnomore · 25/02/2007 17:33

Sauce...that is a relief then!

Lullabyloo · 25/02/2007 17:57

I use Dr Hauschka's Rose day cream...it's wonderful stuff.

cupcakesgalore · 25/02/2007 18:49

I really like Liz Earle but we're so broke at the mo. I can't really afford to buy it - and i don't htink it is overpriced. I read though that all creams do the same thing but the expensive ones just feel nicer to put on. I'm in search of a high street alternative..

sauce · 25/02/2007 19:47

nah! the friend in question is Parisian & she'd just laugh anyway.

TLV · 25/02/2007 20:49

I had some Chanel skin samples and I used a face mask (nourishing cream gel) and its fab, not sure how much it is but dh remarked how nice my skin looked, might have to save some pennies

mytwopenceworth · 25/02/2007 20:50

i dont use anything. i just wash my face with dove soap and leave it!

am i a freak?

Ready · 26/02/2007 12:30

mytwopenceworth, I don't think you are a freak... if it works for you then great.

ivelostmyboobsboohoo · 26/02/2007 12:46

dr hausckka gets my vote- its not TOO expensive and utterly divine

inanidealworld · 26/02/2007 16:18

Luuuuuuurve all Clarins stuff.

bakedpotato · 26/02/2007 16:25

I used to swear by Aveda but now save money on bog-standard moisturisers and nightcreams Nivea, Olay, No7 and splurge on Clarins Beauty Flash. It's the only product I've found which makes a visible difference.
