How do you wear white trainers?

I have noticed - only now! - that white trainers are in fashion. I've promptly bought somechunky leather ones (Fly London), only to realise I have no idea how to wear them. They seem so unstylish, somehow... I guess it's the kind of thing that can look very wrong easily.

Please instruct me!

I've got converse (which were once white) and like to wear with breton striped top or checky shirt and skinnies.

Must dig them out and give them a good clean before spring.

blibblibs · 21/01/2017 17:03

I wear them with almost everything.
Good cleaning tip, those magic sponges bring them up a treat and a bit of bleach in water to soak the laces back to white works well too

neveradullmoment99 · 21/01/2017 19:38

Personally i really cant stand the white trainers and skinnies look. Then each to their own.

neveradullmoment99 · 21/01/2017 19:38

..and worse still, the skinnies, breton top and white trainers look.

Muppet7410 · 21/01/2017 19:56

LOL neveradullmoment99

Then why bother to post Never? Just rude. IMO 😊

catinbooots · 21/01/2017 20:54

You need one of those magic eraser thingys from the pound shop to get them clean. It's like magic. Literally

catinbooots · 21/01/2017 20:55

Ugh I can't stand people that hang around S and B to sneer about fashion.

It's not like we hang around in chicken keepers saying how much we all hate birds.

RocketQueenP · 21/01/2017 21:07

Exactly Cat

😂😂

Judydreamsofhorses · 21/01/2017 21:25

I only like mine (Supergas) in summer as I think they look best with bare ankles. In summer I wear them with mom jeans, dungarees and also midi skirts or dresses. (Not really relevant here, but I have black Stan Smiths which I often wear with opaques and shortish skirts/dresses at this time of year.)

Buttwing · 21/01/2017 22:33

Yes yes to magic erasures to clean them I used one my stans and hey came up like new I put new laces in and they looked great.

I wear mine with everything-

Skinnys (need s bit of ankle showing)
Boyfriend jeans rolled up
Tube skirts
Anything really

Buttwing · 21/01/2017 22:34

Eraser! Not erasures! That would never work.

RocketQueenP · 22/01/2017 10:27

What are magic erasers please?? And where would one purchase said item?

catinbooots · 22/01/2017 11:48

It's like a white spongy thing you get in any supermarket but they are 3 for a pahnd in the poundshop.

You don't use any products just make them a bit damp and they get marks off anything. Shoes, walls, worksurfaces the dog

catinbooots · 22/01/2017 11:50

here

"Ugh I can't stand people that hang around S and B to sneer about fashion"

I find that people don't sneer about fashion, but might express negative views about certain items of attire or grooming. Just like you might say you hate leghorns (whilst posting elsewhere about your love of silkies).

It's always OK to say you don't like a look - otherwise you'd be calling for all the 'I hate skinnies' threads to be deleted. And a negative opinion - such as if you wear them with XYZ you'll look really boring - is still giving thoughts on how you might come across if that's how you choose to put things together.

Personally, I wouldn't wear them - being old enough to have done this first time round, I don't really want to go there again. I looked at the thread however to see if there were any ideas that might make me change my mind. And found there aren't.

But I will fling in my view - negative thought it is - never wear them with stonewashed denim.

ShoutOutToMyEx · 22/01/2017 18:04

Stella i think there's a difference though between coming on to share something vaguely constructive - 'not a fan of the white trainer look, I've got some grey Gazelles which i think look better with jeans', or like you've said, a rule you adhere to - rather than just 'nope, looks shit'.

And I do think it's mean spirited to plop onto a thread to criticise something the OP has just said she's bought. Surely in that situation, if you have nothing nice to say, you say nothing at all?

RocketQueenP · 22/01/2017 18:30

Yep exactly shoutout I just think it's a bit mean. Not everyone is going to like everybody's taste in clothes etc but mean comments aren't necessary imo. Constructive comments like your example, yes definitely.
