Any ideas where I would find one please?

Back in the 90's I think! 😂 Jokes a side I've found these two Joe Browns ones on the Very website!

Oh, are they really old fashioned?

Jigsaw or White Company. Maybe too ££££

Nettletheelf · 14/01/2017 21:02

Don't do it. We're saving you from yourself.

MissBeehiving · 14/01/2017 21:11

please don't do it

starsinyourpies · 14/01/2017 21:20

Don't do it (unless you're over 80 and slim).

MissMogwi · 14/01/2017 21:37

My mum wears these things, sometimes decorated with 'seasonal' appliqué. So we've just had Christmas wear, soon she will crack out the Valentines waistcoats. I shit you not.

It's a slippery slope OP, don't do it.

lurkingfromhome · 14/01/2017 23:38

There's a reason they're so hard to find Smile

BusterGonad · 15/01/2017 03:39

They are not that nice Op, what about a faux fur gillet? Or a nice chunky cardy in a cream shade? I just think you'd look younger instantly without one and I don't think they are flattering. Sorry Op!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 15/01/2017 07:38

I do not understand the logic of any knitted garment with short sleeves.

OldJoseph · 15/01/2017 08:22

I like them ( not all of them linked to above). They are not supposed to be worn without a long sleeved top underneath, that would be daft. They are great for giving a bit of warmth without the bulk of sleeves.

Sunbeam18 · 15/01/2017 08:24

That IS OAP like!

MissBeehiving · 15/01/2017 08:25

It's the buttons. I like tank tops tho

likey

wineoclockthanks · 15/01/2017 09:35

I'm sensing a theme here Grin

I did think there must have been a good reason why the shops weren't full of them Smile

Thank you everyone. Back to the fashion drawing board Sad

Op what is it about the waist coats you like? Let us know and maybe we can find something which fits the criteria but Is a bit more on trend! Don't despair! 😉

LiefieLiefie · 15/01/2017 13:52

If you're wanting to keep your body warm, then I second fake fur gilets or padded gilets. They have the same effect but a bit more fashion-conscious and up-to-date.

I have something similar to this.

Padded wise, Uniqlo always get good reviews on here.

BusterGonad · 15/01/2017 14:22

I have a pink minky coloured oasis one and I love it!

wineoclockthanks · 15/01/2017 17:51

All fashion help greatfully received!

I can't wear jumpers as I get too hot (hot flushes all the time!) so do wear cardigans a lot. But I've got some lovely long sleeved tops which I want to wear so thought sleeveless was the answer I now see the error of my ways

I was ill recently and due to surgery and medication my body shape has changed - my tummy is now size 16/18 so I'm not sure of a thicker gilet.

BusterGonad · 15/01/2017 18:16

You can wear them open, if you do them up they can look a bit chunky, what about one of those long line jackets without sleeves, my friend wears hers with a fine knit roll neck underneath, and as it's long line they kind of make you look taller and slimmer too.

Fuzzypeggy · 15/01/2017 18:27

Something like this might be a bit more stylish op?

Knitted waistcoat - not OAP-like or too expensive!
wineoclockthanks · 15/01/2017 18:29

Ok been googling, what's a 'duster jacket'? And do I want one Smile?

OP posts:
wineoclockthanks · 15/01/2017 18:30

Oh, I like that fuzzy thanks, where's that from?

OP posts:
Fuzzypeggy · 15/01/2017 18:38

its a pic from eBay, a topshop cardigan. I googled it because I have the exact same one and was trying to find a pic of it for you.
