What to wear with this dress?

I've got a post Christmas Christmas party next week which I'm really excited about. Dinner and disco nothing too fancy but I've lost some weight recently and have a dress I'd like to wear (pictured). I'm 5ft 3 and size 12 with OK legs and bust and a bit of a tummy

What do you think? Are the shoes pictured a bit too much sparkle? What jewellery / bag style do you reckon would work? And could I wear black opaque or would that be a fashion faux pas - I will be indoors the whole time so could brave bare legs but it's not usual for me.

Thanks in advance Flowers

I think they go together really well, whether you go bare lagged or wear opaques. I would personally wear the black tights because even if my legs are ok, I get way too cold in winter, even indoors. I would also feel less restricted in terms of bending over, etc, haha.
But yes, shoes and dress are gorgeous. perfect winter party wear.

That dress with black or gold heals & clutch bag, court shoes/stilettos would look best with that dress, or maybe sling backs

AgathaMystery · 07/01/2017 00:09

Hmmmm

I think nude tights & stilettos too - I don't know why but I think the T bar shoes with that chunky heel will kill the dress. I'm sorry. The shoes are super cute - with an A line skirt maybe?

The dress is very sexy but the shoes are not. Both are lovely though.

I was wondering if the shoes were too cutesy as well. They are just so comfy!! I haven't any stilettos or courts my shoes tend towards the Mary Jane or shoe boot style, so I may have to hit the sales. Any suggestions?

At the moment Clarks have a pair of very very subtle platform sole stilettos in. Black patent. They would last you forever (you sound like me with shoes) & can be worn with anything. I will look for a Link.

Bluntness100 · 07/01/2017 10:44

Don't wear black tights and those shoes with that dress, black tights and paler shoes is a bad look. Every time.

Either wear nude tights and those shoes or bare legs.

Personally I'd go for higher strappy sandals in either nude or silver, and I'd have bare legs with a hint of fake tan on.

SausageSoda · 07/01/2017 14:44

The shoes aren't nice imo and wouldn't go with the dress. They especially wouldn't look right with black opaques. Nude tights or bare legs if you want to keep and wear those shoes.

Kirriemuir · 07/01/2017 14:58

Definitely not opaque tights.

KavvLar · 07/01/2017 17:05

Grand, so either black tights black courts or nude tights or bare legs with nude or metallic shoes.

I know the sparkly ones aren't to everyone's taste but I love them DH does not they are quite the man repellers

Agatha is it the Kendra courts in Clarks? I've had half an eye on the patent ones.

Meant to say I love the shoes as I have worn them before (with jeans and top) but wasn't sure with this dress.

I like the shoes but not with that dress. It's too much sparkle and I don't think they are high enough. I'd go for a bare leg/flesh coloured tights with a nude or black shoe-something with a heel. And if you wear black shoes, I'd probably go with a black bag too.

littlebillie · 07/01/2017 21:02

Nice on their own but each one is a wow but together not so sure one wow and the rest neutral

WiltingTulip · 08/01/2017 03:08

Wow I love both! It looks like the perfect (post) Christmas party outfit. If I had shoes like that I'd find every excuse to wear them!

BusterGonad · 08/01/2017 03:15

I love those shoes, I too say nude tights. I would wear the dress and shoes but I love the cutesy look! If not I say silver heels and nude tights. I think black tights will bring an air of frumpiness to the outfit, I always think black tights look a bit boring and give the appearance of being a bit nervous to show yourself off. It's just my option, I wore black tights and a dress at the weekend as I'm in the Middle East and just felt like my outfit was ruined! I hated it.

Dowser · 08/01/2017 11:52

Love the dress and shoes. Definitely would not wear black tights.
If you've got the shoes and they are comfy I'd wear them.
I'd wear them with fine stockings/ tights but I'm old lol

Dowser · 08/01/2017 11:54

I can't find the shoes on the monsoon website and I'd like some.

KavvLar · 08/01/2017 12:15

Dowser They have them in a size 6 and in different colours, I think they are actually part of the kids range uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/mon_3,mon_3.3,mon_3.3.6/1111081971

I came across them while stocking up on cheap party shoes for the DDs

I was going to come on and say that those shoes look like something my 6 year old would wear and now I see they actually are childrens shoes Grin. I would wear high strappy sandals with that dress, just don't think those shoes would work at all. And definitely not black opaques.

KavvLar · 08/01/2017 20:04

Marmite shoes!

EmmaC78 · 08/01/2017 20:26

I would say a definite No to the black tights too, definitely nude tights with a dress like that and either court shoes or a higher strappy sandal.
