Is there really such a thing as a great ( smudge proof ) mascara for around £25?

Any recommendations welcome ( up to £50 )

Thank you.

Another tip is make sure you 'bake' your undereye area with powder to mattify any moisturiser/product because an oily/'wet' undereye area attracts mascara transfer no matter what.

Just adding to the recommendations for Benefit "They're Real". I have very long eyelashes and wear contact lenses, which combined make me a serial eye toucher! This is the only mascara I've found which doesn't flake or smudge even though I use it on upper and lower lashes. I've found it has decent staying power after swimming too - I don't put my face in the water to swim but inevitably get loads of splashes around my eyes and it never smudges. Great stuff.

I used to love Lancôme Hypnose but had to change as it started flaking everywhere. I tried Hypnose Drama but found that flaked AND smudged so was a disaster. I also used Max Factor for a while but that had no staying power for me.

Tubing is what you need. I forvere got smudges under my eyes until I figured this out! My favourite is Clinique lash power (original in the grey tube) but the Estee lauder Doublewear is another good one. I find that dried out a bit quickly for the price though. I haven't tried the No7 one, but I have tried Loreal and that also works.

Tubing mascaras are generally not that volumising though so Iuse a different one on my upper lashes. They are also removed with warm water rather than cleanser.

I didn't realise no7 did a tubing one! Just bought they're real yesterday as I suffer from same smudging, it stayed on all day with no smudging.

Clinique Lash Power- just started using it after learning that Estée Lauder no longer does their Double Wear in brown.

I've tried Clinique Lash Power and the No 7 tubing mascara (gold one) and of the two, I'd recommend the Clinique.

No7 stay perfect! Another vote

Clinique flutter to full mascara. It's a tubing mascara and doesn't budge once on.

Advice I saw from Sali Hughes (though haven't tried it out yet) is to use you favourite normal mascara to get volume etc and then layer a tubing mascara on top. This way you get the effect from a normal mascara but the tubing mascara seals it so that it doesn't smudge.

I find the only one that really works is EL double wear

Another vote for Clinique flutter to full - forget smudging, it's bloody impossible to remove! I also find you get pretty good volume with it on the 'full' setting.

Estee double wear
