New back to work capsule wardrobe needed!

I've been working at home in pjs for the last two years, now I'm making a return to an office so I need a whole new wardrobe, I want to keep it simple and sticking to a "capsule wardrobe" but I have a habit of going OTT, I have really no idea where to start. What to buy, how many items to buy?

So for those with a capsule work wardrobe, how do you start? how many pieces/outfits do you have?

Oh, and I'll be working in a financial services company, so pretty formal dress code.

Well, I'd start at M&S and buy a load of their formal dresses, then go to Zara and buy some nice blazers. Then a few scarves, a trench coat or mac, head to R&B and KG for some shoes, a few glossy handbags and that would be a good start for me.

What size are you? How tall? What things do you usually suit?

I'm 5' 3, size 8-10

I tend to wear black/dark clothes, usually a patterned skirt and a black top, anything light in colour would be too far out of my comfort zone.
