Best face cream for 50+ year old

Wanted to treat myself to some good face cream in Boots today but was completely overwhelmed by the vast range of products. Can anyone suggest something suitable for a tired looking, mid-50s face? Happy to splurge but don't want to waste my money!

I've tried a lot of products but always come back to the magic combination of: eve Kim cleansing balm, a facial oil (neals yard frankincense is excellent) and crime de la met moisturising lotion (or the heavier cream in deep winter). None of these are cheap but I rationalise by not wasting money on lots of products I never use.. and also buy on eBay to get a good price.

Creme de la mer really does deserve all the hype - skin looks so much better with it.

Sorry that was meant to read Eve Lom not Eve Kim.

This has made a huge difference to my skin, used 2 or 3 times a week. I cleanse with Bioderma micellar water in the evening and Boots No 7 hot cloth cleanser in the morning. I use a Facetheory moisturiser during the day, and at nights when I'm not using the glycolic cream, I use Nivea Soft. I have pretty good skin.

windy it's fantastic isn't it.

Some interesting suggestions - thank you. I'll make a note of them all and have a look next time I'm shopping.

I used No 7 for years and a few months ago started using Nivea and to be honest can't tell the difference. Maybe I'm hoping for a miracle!

Well I just use the protect and perfect moisturiser in the morning and that combined with nip and fab [glycolic pads] and from time to time nip and fabs night cream [ weird smell but contains retinol] and my skin looks the best it has. I am 49. I used the protect and perfect years ago, stopped [ no idea why] and then returned to it because it leaves your skin with much more refined pores. Everyone is different though. What works for one person my not work for another. I also use the nivea blue pot. Its the only thing that works on my neck!

I am a long time fan of Clarins - now use their Super Restorative range and am often complimented on my skin. Recently have been mixing and matching a bit with Sarah Chapman products, which I also rate.
