Sequin chafing

So I have just got in from an evening wearing my lovely sparkly new sequin covered top, and my inner upper arms are totally mangled. Is this a thing? My arms aren't particularly chubby or anything. My top was only Primark (though rather cute). Is sequin chaffing more avoidable with more upmarket brands?

I do like my top. If I wear it again I will have to spend the evening with my arms in tha air. Or wear a cardigan.

Yes, I think it's a thing. Whenever I've tried on anything that's full-on sequined I've found it unbearably uncomfortable- itchy, prickly and stiflingly hot. I don't know how people can stand it. I have one top that isn't too bad because it has bands of plain fabric around the collar and arm holes so the edges of the sequins don't actually touch my skin. But I seem to be more fussy than most people, I have a long list of materials I find too scratchy to wear. Wool and merino are both on it. It's basically cotton, silk, linen or nothing for me.

Yeah it's a thing - I remember it happening to me when I was 15 and a tiny size 8!

It's definitely a thing and I don't think cost makes any difference. They don't just wreck your arms though, they also wreck knitwear. You have to suffer to sparkle.
