I want a fabulous white shirt

sarahnova69 · 28/12/2016 07:49

Recommendations please. The wish list:

  • absolutely must not be transparent
  • nicely and flatteringly cut for my hourglassy figure
  • crisp and holds shape well (some stretch is fine)
  • funky design features welcome - doesn't have to be a classic white shirt.
  • easy to iron a bonus.

Budget stretchable for something worth it. Where do I look? For reference, I'm early 30s and a short size 8 overall.

Watching with interest!

cathyandclare · 28/12/2016 11:19

Me too!
Can't find one though, hoping someone will be more useful and help all of us

I have quite a big bust and nearly always have to wear a camisole underneath shirts too - annoying

bojorojo · 28/12/2016 11:26

T M Lewin. Any shirtmaker that does traditional men's shirts and a range for women too.

bojorojo · 28/12/2016 11:28

Also Charles Tyrwhitt have a women's range.

sarahnova69 · 28/12/2016 12:22

Interesting. Are the above makes cut for the feminine of figure?

I've been contemplating buying a cos shirt but am unsure about whether they pass the transparency test.

I have some lovely cos shirts but the are utter buggers to iron. It doesn't stop me wearing them though!

Melstarrynight · 28/12/2016 12:44

I got a good one in bravissimo. They do them for larger busts but still with a good waist.

Bejazzled · 28/12/2016 12:47

Anything on Jaeger

I can tell you they wash and iron like a dream 🙂

CallarMorvern · 28/12/2016 13:54

TKMaxx usually have a few nice ones in. I have a lovely fitted stretch one from there, can't remember the make off hand. I have a long body, so getting fitted shirts to fit nicely is the bane of my life.

Hoppinggreen · 28/12/2016 13:56

I got a nice one from Gap . It's textured and I really like it.
I'm pretty booby and it looks nice

I love Ralph Lauren white shirts, they wash and wear brilliantly. I have a few with lovely details on the front but most of the ones online seem quite plain at the moment, maybe sold out in the sales?

Have a look at the OUTNET (there's a lovely Chloe one down to £100 that I can't manage to post link to) or Bloomingdales website for a few ideas if you're not finding much inspiration from regular sites as well, some lovely stuff and on sale too.

ceeveebee · 28/12/2016 14:30

Banana republic or Jaegar is where I usually get white shirts from

pickledsausage · 28/12/2016 15:50

I have a Massimo Dutti one

jobellinger · 28/12/2016 20:44

This one's lovely for an hourglass shape...not cheap, but it is on sale www.saintbustier.com/courtney-shirt-white.html

You need Anne Fontaine

www.annefontaine.com/the-white-shirt

Expensive but worth it and there's an outlet at Bicester if you're ever in that neck of the woods.

sarahnova69 · 28/12/2016 20:59

I thought I was fairly open on budget but WHOA Anne Fontaine does some lovely looking but EXPENSIVE white shirts...
