Should I be worried? Loose stone in ring

DH bought me a vintage ring for Christmas.

I'm very happy with it but the stone (paste) jiggles slightly in the setting.

There are a few claws on it that don't seem loose. I was thinking that maybe with cold and heat the paste may have slightly shrunk over the years.

Would anyone have experience of this and could you advise me please?

I lost the stone from my (newish) engagement ring when it was doing this. It used to rattle slightly.

I found the stone, luckily, but had a horrible few days before finding it.

So from my experience, the rattling does mean it could fall out.

Get a quote to fix it, definitely, they are meant to be checked annually (if vsluable/sentimental).

Yes FIX it! My Sapphire stone fell out of my ring in an Asda's toilet, of all places. Thankfully I spotted it straight away - but my point is that it WILL eventually fall out. Get it fixed! I got mine done for about 100 Euros.

Thank you for the replies.

I am bringing it back to the shop tomorrow as it was sold to DH in this condition.

I assume it would be fair of me to expect it to be fixed free of charge. I hope they see it this way too!
